For pve (boosting/aoe farming), yes that dagger is insane for mages

But in pvp it's really bad for them since the proc breaks sheep, while it's also highly valuable for priests, I believe Dramatized knows of one who tested it, iirc it works with most shadow talents (blackout/shadowform/etc)

And ofc their kit is very mana intensive so that aspect of the proc is also very welcomed; mages can create tons of value with little mana (sheep/nova/r1fb/cs)

I would def argue it is better for priests. It can't proc off periodic damage but it can on the initial dot. So potentially could get a lot of dmg and mana back in big fights. Spriest weakness is becoming oom. This helps.

Dude - no one's talking about using this dagger for 49s... this is about Mage 60 AOE farming. That dagger is BIS for the rest of the game. The amount of mana you get back is insane as it can proc off of every mob hit by the initial tick of Blizzard.

Edit: actually I guess y'all may have been talking about 49s. But yeh, I was talking specifically about 60 Mage AOE farm. I main Mage and am @ about ~200 Princess kills without seeing this drop in Classic. I know Mages with 800+ kills and haven't seen it.

I was responding directly to this quote, which was a direct response to my post. His post refers specifically to 60 boosting/AOE farming. Even when he does refer to PvP, it doesn't reference 49s specifically. Rather, he's talking about SPriest PvP in general. The same comments would apply to 60 PvP as well.

My mistake was assuming that people were talking about 60s based on XB's direct response to my post, referring to AOE farming, boosting, and PvP with no reference to 49 twinks. However, your statements about him being on a 49 twink and everyone "most certainly" talking about 49s is clearly incorrect.

XB spoke of it's strength of the dagger in regards to AoE for mage responding to your post. He didn't even bring up lvl 60. You are presuming that. He did not agree with your statement of not being as good for priests as it is for mages. He brought up a counter point stating it has a flaw for mages in pvp, and mages are not as mana bound as spriest. Again we are talking about lvl 49 because this is the 49s classic forum which is where this post was posted, and the item was dropped for a soon to be 49 twink. So of course all of our points are in regards to this dagger at 49. You are the only one here not talking about 49.

I hear not just spellcast so pain and flay can proc just 1st when casted but will c zoon

It can proc on the initial but not off periodic of dots, and off first flay tick as you said. I honestly think this weapon makes spriest so much better. Huge grats again man. Looking forward to seeing your twink!
