Making a 49 Rogue...

hey, i'm currently levelling a rogue to twink at 49 and was just looking for some input on gear/enchants. here's a link to my gear, i didn't bother with talents because warcrafter doesn't work. some of the enchants might be wrong but the gear etc. is all the same. I plan to be burst dmg based, doing a lot of damage with ambush and killing people before they can get out of stuns. i'm planning on using gut ripper with +35 agil for my main hand dagger. tell me what i can improve :D

Your gear looks fine for the most part.

For a Helm, Embrace of the Lycan is a good option as well.

I don't think you can out +35 agi on your dagger, just +20 agi. For a MH dagger, especially if you plan to swap it out after your opener, put +weapon damage on it as well as a sharpening stone for a huge opener.

Thrash Blade is also a great option. As a rogue, you don't want bleeds to tick on your target that you didn't actually rupture/garrote on there because it will break blind.

You can't put 35 agi on anything in the 49 bracket. Except Enchanted Azsharite Felbane Dagger for Horde, and it would be a complete waste of the weapon to do that if you went through the trouble to get it (Accuracy, Berserking and AP would all be better, not to mention the dagger isn't good for MH).

If you're going Ambush spec, +7 weapon damage is the best enchant. Best MH daggers are Widowmaker and Shadowblade. They are roughly equal, and it's proc vs. stats, so you get to pick. Put 20 agi or whatever on your OH.

Shadowblade would be too fast for a MH dagger. Gutripper would be a little more ideal for a MH dagger along with Widowmaker.

I'm starting the quest for enchanted azsharite for my horde tonight! :)

thanks for all the tips guys, do you think it's worth it to get the felbane dagger/sword? and if so, which one? the widowmaker is best while stealthed for the stats, i suppose?

also i had the +20 agility enchant confused with the one for 2handers.

edit: would it be a good idea while in stealth to use gutripper with +7 dmg in my mainhand and widowmaker in my offhand with +20agil? seems like i might as well just put a stat stick in my offhand since i'm just going to be switching it for shadowblade as soon as i ambush.

I think if you want to stat stack in your OH, Doomforged Straightedge is your best bet.

That's my choice of OH normally, this time I'm questing the azsharite sword or dagger I haven't decided which yet. Dagger would be optimal because of the speed for poison procs, but the sword has like 0.1 DPS more, but is .5 second slower.

Yeah, sorry. Gutripper. I always confuse the names of those two daggers. >_<

i'm thinking that for my 'unstealthed' set i'll use thrash blade/bloodrazor and the azsharite daggerin offhand ,not sure if the dagger is better than shadowblade with mongoose on it though.

Depends on what enchant you put on it I suppose. I'm going to Berserking, but I may switch to Accuracy.

yeah i was thinking zerking.

Well, after testing Berserking a little, it has a very poor proc chance in the OH (1.5 second azsharite dagger). I'm not sure if it's even worth getting if you haven't yet. Accuracy would be better in my opinion or just go Doomforged Straightedge with Goose.

cool, thanks for the info.

i'm probably going to either go Thrashblade+Shadowblade (Gut Ripper+Doomforged while in stealth), or just go straight up daggers in both hands, not sure what my best choices there would be though.

in other news i finally got my fungus shroud :D

anyone? just wondering whether i should even bother with swords, my friend who plays an 80 rogue says that 2 daggers might be better?

No, I'm guessing he plays shadowdance or mutilate where daggers would be better. Not the case in the bracket.

Even with mutilate, you still run a stunlock combo, which is exactly what you want to be doing with swords. Ambush/Backstab doesn't hit as hard when you're against twinks with 3000+ health. A stunlock into a huge evis will though :). Plus you'll take less damage and be less susceptible to CC.

awesome, thanks for all the help so far btw! :D

No problem :). A dagger in your OH, like the azsharite is still fine :). Thrash Blade is my recommended MH, although some people will use Bloodrazor. I can't stand bleeds that I can't control though.

Bloodrazor is okay depending on who your fighting. I'll use it sometimes.

The problem with a Sub Ambush spec is you fail against plate. Plus for you to be effective, your best attacks require positioning behind your target.

Though on cloth Ambush crit + Evis Crit will 2 shot almost any twink clothie.
