Lvl 19 Shaman - what's my role

Looking for some advice on 19 Shaman twinking for Wotlk classic. Assuming I'm following a hybrid build such as this one from the 19s discord.

  • What are my favorable matchups?
  • What is my most optimal rotation for single target vs situations?
  • When to opt for healing allies instead of going in for the attack? Is it smart to switch between different ranks of healing wave for quicker cast times?
  • Best totems for different situations?
Let me know what has worked for you in the past!

in this xpac shamans can FC in ghost wolf form , so u could farm some stamina/intelect gear as well and roll some flags when needed

to bad you don't get to experience them as they were at start of Van WOTLK. enchance shams were beasts, with GW unslowable below 100% run speed, had a rather insane heal which i believe was near uninteruptible, along with glyphs at the start dealt with hunters, slowed them to crawl, and blow them up including rogues with ease. lock down alot of casters and do flag returns

there were enchance nerfs, glyphs removed/nerfed/etc and then the great XP on/off twink nerfs, drastically affected all three specs

I absolutely love shaman and 99% of the time its my go-to class when playing 19's cause of its diversity and utility, purge is incredible, i have rogues in my guild that when we're chasing a druid efc and he pops natures grasp they will instantly stop auto attack so i can purge and then resume attacking. Theyre good FC's. Heals crit massive, though are a slow cast and have no knockback prevention. So i play 3 different gear sets depending on the group im playing with or what i feel like playing but always keep my talents the same:

'Enhance' 2hander: https://eightyupgrades.com/set/b3VRFxMJPqms8jYcroK81v - this is my favourite build to play, alot of people will say its a meme build but anyone i play with will tell you otherwise, ive held my own with some good players and taken down druid efc's on my own. I've spent many many hours testing different pieces of gear for this and so far this is my ideal build. I have tried firey weapon, Lifestealing, Ive even tried crusader proc swapping but without the 22int im constantly oom so ive found that 22int was my best option, with a macro for my 1hander+shield for when im trying to go defensive. The set is Hit capped + has the 3 set fang bonus giving 4 expertise + the 7 nature dmg from 2 set bonus. Sometimes i swap the weapon for nightreaver when not in midfield (its a little quicker and i prefer it when on efc's).

Standard SP 1hand+shield build: https://eightyupgrades.com/set/2EC5wr73m3jUpARkrrvzPT - A fun build, what most people play, not too much to say about it. Decent damage, purges, good for offhealing/helping your teams healers. Lavish ring can be swapped, i simply take it for the hit rating.

FC: https://eightyupgrades.com/set/4v1WoQ9TTwU9gRWg9Lgadq - Solid FC, cant shift out of slows but ghostwolf will allow you to not be reduced below normal running speed. Glyph puts a good shield on you. Can swap mace for dawnblade for extra 2 stam but i dont feel its worth it, others may feel differently. Could swap legs for 5/5 eagle if you wanted more mana. Once PvP trinket is on cd i tend to swap to double AGM.

Priest has always been my favourite class at any level but since creating a shaman ive really fallen in love with it at 19, its got such a wide range of playstyles and utility. If a hunter slows you at range you can just pop instant ghost wolf and run towards him, its great. You likely wont ever top dmg meters but its not really about that, its the utility you bring to the team. Good luck with your shaman!

This is great, thanks for the write up! I'm curious about the 2H build, may give it a go.

Another Q not sure if anyone knows the answer to. In the standard build there's a lot of stacking SP enchants. What all does that go towards?

I assume shocks benefit from it, but also does searing totem take a snapshot and/or fire nova benefits? What about the extra fire damage from flametongue on melee strikes?

Spellpower will effect your shocks. Hence why my 2hander enhance build has some SP enchants/gear. It will not have any effect on searing totem and flametongue is only effected by weapon speed. However i can tell you with flametongue weapon, the tooltip is wrong, with a 3.30 speed nightreaver i proc over what the tooltip says and with a 3.80 Heirloom Axe i proc almost double the max the tooltip says.

Slim, would you care to elaborate how you play the enchance roll?
