My boi Gooddrank-Ravencrest just got Lucky Fishing Hat with 2 minutes left of the event..

But, last week, I fished up my 40/40th fish 16:01 (stressed and mad af) got to bb, couldn't turn in quest

No - Once you've turned in the quest you go back to catching normal fish only. I've tried.

You don't get more tastee fish but you can still fish up rare fish from the pools the entire event even if you completed the world quest. I got a hat on priest 2 weeks ago after getting hook.

It really is a shame they are really only good for cloth wearers, for now any way. Since I got them on my "favorite" toons I have not tried fishing for one in years.
