I think my armory shouldn't be put on a pedestal as it's so far from BiS because once you have the items that enable the build, pushing ilvl has a minimal impact, personnally I prefered investing time into perfecting islands speedruns rather than perfecting my gear, because that has a much bigger impact on run times. Eventually I'll start working toward BiS to really min/max everything.
If you want to work on gear, here's what I consider BiS, let me know if you'd change anything:

Is there more to it? I have several talks with probably the highest ilvl DH on EU and he goes for versatility over anything else if I can and only really uses the leggo to kill off mobs and pulls the entire island.
I'm very curious as to how it should be done otherwise, as I'm currently investing all my game time into my DH twink. Even deleted my old 117 DH, just to try something new and it is quite a bit more fun to to have so much to do in a sense on one toon again.
Some versa vs. mastery numbers & analysis for islands at 110:
100 versatility = 4.8% dmg & healing, -2.4% dmg received
100 mastery = 8.5% chaos dmg & & 3.4% speed
~95% of your damage in islands is chaos, so let's factor that in, 8.5%*0.95 = +8% damage done from 100 mastery, rounding down
The 4.8% healing increase and 2.4% reduced damage taken has an absolutely minimal impact in islands (to not say useless) because the 40% base leech is much more than enough to keep you up, and you are unkillable unless you make a mistake so the 2.4% reduced dmg is also negligible, as if you make that mistake and eat a bad stun with the whole island on you, even ~12% reduced damage from a pure versatility stack won't save you.
So it's basically +8% damage and 3.4% movement speed from mastery vs. +4.8% damage from versa, using 100 rating of each to compare.
Keep in mind that the movement speed from mastery has (minimal) diminishing returns, but even if it wasn't there, just the damage increase from mastery makes it superior to versatility. The 3.4% from 100 rating was calculated with 674 mastery total.
So for islands, mastery is the clear choice, especially since movement speed is extremely valuable. For other content it depends on the amount of targets, single target versa is probably best, but I couldn't say. I'd ask your guy to see his numbers!
He was on 1 stream from some semi-famous streamer and he somehow now knows everything? We're still learning a lot about the 110 bracket, not to mention the 111. While he has some experience in this situation, despite how he acts on here, he isn't an experienced person. He only made an account on here after that stream so that he could brag about it, after which he's basically acted like he knows everything about everything when he's still new to twinking from how he acts and talks about it. Most of the 110 bracket is full of people who did 101 Twinking in Legion and that's how we know about most of the consumables and similar things that are used today.
Jeez, I'd love to know how you got that perception of me. Not sure why I bother, but let me rectify a few incorrect things you said.
Being on that stream wasn't meant as a qualification, just something I thought was cool and worth sharing, as I had rarely seen pro players care about twinking, let alone his massive audience being hyped up about it and bombing me with 300+ whispers in the first 10 minutes of our sesh, asking to buy runs.
But clearly I was wrong, barely anyone here cared so I stopped sharing such content, which may be why you think that's all I did, but actually since that day I've been boosting some of the best players in NA including blizzcon finalists, several rank 1 players and top 5-100 cutting edge pvers, who are willing to pay me and certainly wouldn't even talk to me if I didn't share their sense of efficiency. I just don't mention that here, but it felt necessery now since you were assuming false things about me.
By the way that ''semi-famous'' streamer is arguably the most accomplished wow player of all time, being the first ever to reach 3000 rating, and hit rank 1 in 6 consecutive seasons (back when it was actual rank 1, not the current system with a bunch of rank 1s) then took a break from wow to build a massive community and basically create the IRL section on twitch. I may sound like im fanboying a little but I'm just trying to give you an idea of who he is since you don't seem to know. If you think im biased feel free to check his wikipedia page (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reckful) or read a bit about him elsewhere. I'd just say that his recent return to wow was highly anticipated, so yes I was pretty hyped to get to play with him on stream, and seeing his chat love the content.
Now a little about me since you assume several incorrect things (please let me know how you came to these conclusions). This is a recently created account because I wanted the name Speedruns as it is all I do at 110, and it's my character's name. I've been around since 2005, made my first twink the first week Warsong Gulch came out, back when 20-29 was the lowest bracket. I was around for pwndepot and back when twinkinfo.com was just a blog after meeting drayner in-game.
Since then, I've been passionate about pushing wow characters to their absolute limits, combining near-skillcap with optimal gear and seeing what you can achieve. I've always been a fan of maximize the efficiency in everything I do irl, and twinking in wow is the best thing I've found to emulate that in-game. At core I'm a pvp player, having peaked on #2 US team in legion, but nowadays I mostly play twinks to push the limits in pve as pvp lacks the competitive aspect I liked. I played every twink brackets in every xpac since launch at what I like to think is the near maximal potential, although I give it to you in legion I opted for having 10 classes with ~850 socket/leech gear instead of 1 with super high ilvl, so that's one thing I haven't experienced but I have a pretty good idea of what it was like after watching others.
Not sure why I bothered explaining this, but it feels frustrating when I invest time here (a lot of it is behind the scenes, responding to people asking questions in PMs here or on discord) to share what I've learned and people like you trash-talk for seemingly no reason. Maybe the way I communicate it makes it seem passive-aggressive, if so I apologize, I realize that communicating is something I must work on and the language barrier isn't helping, but I don't see any other reason as to why you'd react this way to what I truely believe is valuable information. I'd love to hear your constructive criticism instead.
If you think something I posted is wrong, or if you know something I don't, please say so! There's nothing I love more than learning!
