Level 80 409's nerfed in 5.2?

I heard a rumor from a friend saying that all lvl 80 req. 409 gear is going to be nerfed come 5.2. I think this is a fantastic change that makes the bracket less gold based. My 80 is on a server that I have no other chars on and all I have is the weap. You can do work with it but when play against someone in maxed out gear the fight becomes extremely difficult. If anyone can confirm or deny this gear fix I would greatly appreciate it. It impacts whether or not I even play my dk next patch. Thank you for your time.

Whats the point of the game if it's not difficult? And no they are not "fixing the gear", they are fixing the stat scaling to the highest lvl of that bg bracket. So for an 80, their stats will match those of an 84.

Pretty sure the secondary stats will stay the same (percentage-wise). If I read the patch note right, the only things they're changing is miss chance, crit-suppression, the difference in base stats and spell coefficients/base damage.

Players in low level battlegrounds will have their effective level raised to the maximum level allowed in that battleground bracket. Players' base stats and spells are scaled accordingly and are treated as the same level when determining hits, misses, and critical effect chance.

a welcome change, no more unkillable 84 discs :|

I think they will still be hard to kill, only your base stats change, you will still have a lot less base stats than the 84s because of their gear.
But here's hoping we have a good chance versus them ;>

Usually it's more about the secondary stat scaling vs more HP when it comes to 80-84 etc. 5.2 only "equalizes" the hit chance you'd need vs a 84 as if it was a 80. And the same goes for crits and spell coefficients.
