Level 29 beta WW monk

Warglave

Not too keen on posting 29 stuff in the 20s squish thread anymore, so here's some quick far-from-BiS ww monk stuff..

This gear: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/akama/qix
(epic swamprock was worse than a green BoE ring I had enchanted so swapped that on the PTR and added an ilvl 38 req meta gem that is too high to use on live)

And this non-optimal talent setup:

2h epic with serenity, agi trinket proc, and (blue) elekk trinket:
HhxA7B1.png

2x revenger with serenity, agi trinket proc, and elekk:

and 2x revenger normal:

Just what ToC gear I could get to drop in a few lockouts and stuff I had farmed to test when 20 got dumped back into loxked XP.

edit- oh, also good chance there were some agi trinket procs in there... totally forgot to check or take note. Ok, fixed.

Yep... the 280 agi was without the agi trinket, 2h has 289 resting agi. Can do more testing, was just posting rough info.

So +4% all damage, plus another 35% damage on rising sun kick (if skipping interrupt), and plus some more if all agility gems and more gear. Very nice numbers for WW.

It'll be so nice if a ton of farming is just Trial of the Champion. May never have to set foot again in that s*hole Old Hillsbrad Foothills...

Yeah, I just picked the talents I would likely play (I need the interrupt, lol). Haven't had time to really look into much, just running ToC lockouts while I do other stuff... ran once through forge/saron/halls and said no thanks. Too much RP.

ToC is difficult for some pieces tho, having 2 middle bosses with different loot. Plus tons of drops to begin with.

But after the 1st run only a few minutes each, easy getting run by a high level but would hate actually doing it normal.

Coolest part (for a scrub like me) is how much self-healing it seems to have now. Having mists too now that allows instant vivifies while channeling, plus 80% viv increase if you 2/2 that talent... and below that an instant vivify every 10 secs?

Yes plz.

Honestly, I love running dungeons... even that one. Would be nice if we were ported in just outside the castle, & if Thrall would finally get Varsity riding. Would trim off at least 3-4 minuets from that instance.

Aside from that, I'd LOVE to see the XP-OFF Debuff go away. It is truly mean-spirited & keeps us from enjoying our XP off toons to their fullest; & was how I moved to F2P / Vet 20's in the first place.

As per the gearing, we're really gonna need to see how the Ilvl rewards from SL quest/Rare-mobs will be showing up. We may have a whole new meta in a matter of weeks... aaaaaaagain.

In the meanwhile though... I get to run ToC a thousand times, gearing up my roster of 29's & possibly get a whole slew of cool mounts for my boosting Alt acct. in the process.

So messed around with Thunderfist talent, not worth giving up serenity (for me, just IMO) to get to it, but it's interesting to say the least. Could see it being useful PvE for soloing bosses with lots of trash or adds around, lot of potential...

Until they nerf it, of course.

Went to brambleking fili cuz all his little minions... after I gibbed him I still had 6 charges left. :KEKW:

(edit- pretty sure the elekk trinket didnt affect the damage much, I forgot to check but 3252 is not a much bigger crit)

looking at the talent calculator, i think almost every single class is busted at 29 when compared to what we have access to right now. WW monk is already extremely strong right now.

Yeah, ToC runs are around 3 minutes (most of it waiting for the black knight's speech ). And yeah, I don't think I've seen https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=47522/marrowstrike?bonus=6712 drop yet over the years. Followup edit: https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=47522/marrowstrike?bonus=6712 dropped on my 30th run tonight.

No kidding on vivify. First time I saw that tonight and did a double take. Was getting my 60's AV ret pally instant flash of light flashbacks.

Looking at the numbers, WW can double hit rising sun kick for 2,000+ first hit (and not sure how reduced second hit is), fist of fury a bunch for 2,000+ each, every 40 seconds strike of the windlord into thunderfist for 1,500+ each. Yeah, I'm hoping these and hunter tuning take place soon. :monkaLaugh:

Is the revenger still doing the deal for monks where it reads both int and agility or is it just good on its own on beta?

Beta adventure journal shows the same life stealing for a 29 hunter, paladin, and monk just like retail does.

The only reason the proc seems high is because the ilvl went up, I would imagine. 176 on retail and like 350 on beta.

And it can crit, on beta at least. Had some in the combat log last night.

edit- i think it stopped over-performing for monks quite a while ago... Baron's sword still heals more for ret pally tho.

so how much % speed does baron sword give at 29?

Everything about this reeks like shit of Blizzard creating TONS of grandfathered gear after 2 weeks where they don't fix anything on existing toons, but just patch what will drop after and everybody else gets garbage.

"Why does that guy have purples that I can't get!?"
"Sorry bruh we patched it"
"Why are his still purple!?"
"Go fuck yourself is why"

"Go fuck yourself is why"

So I had a moment of clarity today, brought on from years of Blizz still shocking me in how inept they are at change....

Right now all the dungeons on the PTR except like classic and BFA have level 30+ requirements on all their loot tables.

Just a bug, blizz will fix it eventually... right? Well they havent yet. SO the thought I had was that maybe they're doing that to everything outside chromie time to prevent people (twinks) from getting legacy loot gear runs anymore. :FrogeConcern:

Right now even chromie time is affected by the "bug" also, but it would not surprise me in the least that it is an intended change and they just fucked up the "leveling" portion of it... people run legacy for xmog, not actual useable gear - so possibly in blizz's twisted head the drops dont need to scale to everyone in the group in legacy mode.

Now there's no reason whatsoever FOR a change like this.... so that's what scares me... that weeks after prepatch they'll be like "oh yeah, we intended that. Fuck you." like they have with every ninja change affecting twinking in the last forever.

**THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED, JUST SPECULATION**

But yeah..... I'd maybe get my legacy loot gear grinds done this week. :FrogeTorch:

Can't fool me into running Old Hillsbrad Foothills for the 469th time, Warglave. No way, no siree.

It wouldn't surprise me if blizz slapped level 30+ on the dungeon socket gear. It'd open up the green socket gear again, but this time toned down some. Then would just have straggler grandfathered blue/epic socketed folks jumping in a game now and then. Going forward would be new twinks with only 1 socket per item. Some people would be happy to keep farming green socketed gear. PepeLaugh

Some ToC numbers. 80 runs.
  • https://www.wowhead.com/item=47522/marrowstrike?bonus=6712 dropped on runs 30, 42, 46, 51, 58, 63, 71, and 78. So decent drop rate.
  • Gun dropped off last boss 4 times out of 80 runs.
  • Agility mace with socket dropped 3 times out of 80 runs.
  • Intellect mace without socket dropped 1 time out of 80 runs.
  • Took 44 runs to get everything for the hunter.
  • Took 32-ish runs to get everything for the druid.

now imagine if you had to run WoD dungeons for the right epics with terts.

Guessing blizz would make gear there be 30+ too.

Honestly, I don't know why blizz doesn't just reduce gems to +1 across the board. And reduce enchants by 50-75% if under level 30. Seems strange they'd have level 29 ilvl 37 one socket greens that can take +2 stat/+2 mastery gems, but prevent under level 30 toons to get dungeon socket gear.

I guess it'd be a genius move to keep farming accounts paying, pique auction house interest in ilvl 37 greens, and level 29s paying.

It' still less about gear/gems and more about the ability scaling they do to make things balance end game. If Raptor strike still does 1k it does not matter that you can gem to have it do 1600... when compared to something like templates verdict that does 500 and you can gem to have it do 800 (obviously rough numbers)
