Level 16 evoker with 163 ilvl - what's the play from here?

Hey guys,

I recently discovered an old Evoker character I had forgotten about, and after logging in, I noticed multiple gear pieces with an item level of 206 at level 10. Since I had to complete the starting zone before moving on, the character is now level 16.

I already have a level 11 twink Warrior, so I’m considering leveling this Evoker to 20. My idea is to potentially farm Dragonflight elites to power-level other toons from 10-70. However, I’m not sure if this is still a viable strategy.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. What would you use this character for?

Thanks!

The only real advice I can give you with that character is be discrete regardless of what you do.

If you are out of the starter area and already xp locked, or plan on going to 20 on a vet account without a sub, other than upgrading your three blue pieces, they are as geared as they will ever be. get socketed pieces for your belt and shoulder so you can socket the speed and maybe regen gems (though I doubt the regen gem would be needed). Get some enchants, though with that gear its a drop in the bucket.

At that point, you can basically do whatever is fun or useful to you, Evokers are very fun at low levels when geared and played right, the sky's the limit. You can hard cary anything you can think of, and can likely solo mobs well above your level.

Again through, like I noted earlier, be discreet with your use of this character. its very surprising that this gear has yet to be fixed (like it was in the past with Demon Hunters), and the more rando's that see you, the higher chance you have of getting reported.

Avoid battlegrounds, no quicker way to get reported that in a BG with that gear, and you would have nothing to prove anyways, as that gear is massively overpowered and you would only be seen as a cheater.

oh my gyatt guys new BIS just dropped not CLICKBAIITTT!!!!
how can I even think of twinking without being item level 200 smh.

Jokes aside is this currently the most powerful 'twink' in wow scaling wise? I can't think of any gear that'd be higher than these without exploits included.

I have a character like this on an alt account that I've kept discreet for a while too. I stopped logging on him because I assumed blizz would patch that gear already but I guess they haven't lol

Thanks for the reply! However, I was hoping for more suggestions on what to do with the character (beyond just gearing) since I'm new to twinking and my imagination is a bit limited. At the moment, I can't think of much beyond running Timewalking dungeons and maybe farming elites in Dragonflight.

You are a level 80 raid boss in a zone of level 10-20 mobs your toon is unkillable and you have won the game

There may be a few Chromie Time World bossess you could potentially be able to solo/farm at 20, and even potentially loot on a 20. Lord Kazzak in northern Hellfire Peninsula comes to mind, that boss is never up in the present timeline because anyone over level 30-40 can just one shot him the moment he spawns, but is very difficult to kill in chromie time because they scale to you. They are really only possible to kill with groups, or with extremely overscaled gear. They drop BOE epics that scale down to an extent, if you are able to kill them. May be possible with that gear, though your hit rate will suffer.

Kazzak in Hellfire, and maybe even the cataclysm world bosses such as Garr in Mount Hyjal partrolling around the fire area. The cataclysm ones have a small chance to drop super rare patters like the top hat, but mostly drop low value JC recipies and bland BOE epics, though they have a decent chance to drop interesting BOE epics rings and weapons.

We were able to do it with a small group of low levels with 155 gear back in the day, you should have a decent shot with that gear.

Soloing Chromie Time world bosses was one of the main things I did on my 60s when they had super overscaled gear from the grand hunts before it got fixed.

Might as well give it a shot.

That sounds like a solid plan! I’ve leveled some twinks before, and having gear like that at level 10 definitely gives you an edge. Farming Dragonflight elites could still be a good strategy, but you might want to double-check if the experience changes in the latest patches have made that less effective. If it’s still working, leveling the Evoker to 20 could be a good way to help out your other characters.

I’ve tried something similar before with low-level characters and it can definitely work, but you might want to check if scaling or nerfs have made it less efficient for power-leveling. I’ve had luck using characters like that to farm elites and run dungeons for other toons. If you’ve already got a twink Warrior, leveling up the Evoker to 20 could be fun for PvP too—especially if you’re into experimenting with different classes for different strategies.
