Level 1 Hit Ratings

FOUND THE PLAYER VS PLAYER MISS FORMULA !!!!!!!!!!!!

Player/Mob vs Player

When a player or mob attacks a player, the base miss rate is 5%.

For each point of the defender's defense skill over the attacker's attack rating, the base miss rate increases by 0.04%.

For each point of the attacker's attack rating over the defender's defense skill, the base Miss rate decreases by 0.02%.

man was i blind to begin with. i was only searching in HIT and HIT RATING.

heres where i found them...

WowWiki - Miss

so basically you add 0.04% for each skills, thus it would equal to ? 0.20% more hit per level of the guy you are hitting in a duel.

so let's say a level 1 duel a level 20 mage.

that level one would need... 0.20% * 19 = 3.8% more hit to actually be hit capped against him !

wow that sure explains why its easier hitting another player.

So 5 hit on boots is really a horrible enchant then compared to 7 agi for a rogue against other meele at least then. Chubs/Arth, could any of you list the miss chance fighting against each lvl up to 30 or so? Maybe 35.

wondering whats hit cap for lvl 1s

Wondering why you find it hard to multiply, divide, add, or subtract.

Chubs, you should expand the list now that we know the PvP hit formula. Make a list like u did showing how much hit chance you need for fighting each level etc. Maybe even expand it and put the casters hit into this also? You said Dark Desire equals 78% hit, I think it's like 96% for casters. It would really make this thread very helpful. Besides with more information about casters we might see more of them out there.

As it seems im one of the few level 1 twinks on my server my only goal at this point is trying to beat a "very" high level player in a duel. My personal record so far is a level 34 priest (he/she misjudged the situation and went oom too quick). From this duel I got the feeling a higher level could well be possible.

Since math is one of my blindspots i'd like to know what enchant would be best on my boots in order to maximize win chance against high level players. the +7 agil or the lesser accuracy. I havent even given it thought this could be different per class im duelling. My mind would melt I think.

Info on char:

- rogue level 1

- 2 times AGM trinket

- formal dangui with +6stat and rune

- 2.80 speed boa wep with lifestealing and furbolg pouch.

- herbheal and crit from skinning

- I use the fish feast buff alot so that maybe also has to be taken into consideration. (80 ap and 40 stam from the top of my head)

So the agility i get is from chest stats enchant, agil on cloak, gloves and boots.

I can take very long fights due to this setting (not against high level hunters tho, they are my nightmare) so it maybe is safe to say I can afford to lose a bit of dodge (and crit)???

the "math" behind the dilemma: lesser accuracy <> agil (on boots) in order to maximize winchance against high lvl players in pvp is mindboggling to me. Can someone help me out here.

greetz from the new twink on the block,

Well guy's... This calculator can't be true? :O When we took the lvl 55 (cenarion girl) our GM Duoc (lvl 1 rogue) dualwielded and still had like 2 DPS so he must have hitted :)

Because this calculator shows it should had been impossible..?

Duoc probably had some hit rating on his boots.

Forgott to count it xD but Ihugpixelzs didnt, he forgott it xD tho he did lower dmg than me but still did dmg...

EDIT: I am unclear as to how Blizz handles miss % over 100. I think PVE is different than PVP because I can hit a lvl80 player and do dmg to them

^ From the original post.

It is obvious that you can hit levels higher than the 100% miss rate. Again, I'm not sure how that's figured. I do know however that against DLK, I never get a hit (don't ask ... but I've had MANY swings on him). So there is an absolute miss level, but level 50 is not it.

The math is just plugging numbers into the standard hit / miss mechanic formulas. You're welcome to double check them.

However, as for Ihugpixels, I'm assuming he was attacking from behind? If so, block and parry are removed from the combat table and therefore the chance to land a hit on him would be higher. This article is helpful:

Again, I'm not an expert on this, I just plug in numbers (and sometimes get the right answer :) )

Miss chance is calculated before hit chance. Your miss chance is capped at 100% and if you had a draenei in your party you get 1% hit chance.

no ... Shane's just been moving things around it seems ... however we need to get the race/class and gear compendiums back in here or stickied at least ...
