Joining the bracket- Best non OP healer

Hi all,
I don't have the time or patience for end game content any more and thought I'd give the xp off brackets a chance. From what I've heard on bisnation's podcast, it sounds like 19s and 29s are both really active, so I'll try there first. My question is, what healing classes are effective, but not OP. I've noticed from leveling a few alts that disc priests are just too powerful at 19 to allow for competitive play. Resto Druids seem to be weak in heals, but good in damage/mobility, but also a little fotm-ish. I really like Resto shaman and monks so far, but would like some additional input to get started. I'm open to HPally but I really hate their lack of mobility.
Any thoughts are appreciated!

If you're looking for something that is viable and not "FotM", then roll a MW. Play whatever you want though. There's nothing wrong with rolling a Disc Priest or Resto Shaman.

Oi welcome to the bracket!

Cheers!

Seconding this, MW is solid but far from FotM.

That being said, there is a big difference between XP-on and XP-off 19s. You usually need as much healing as you can get in XP-off, none of the healers are too strong for competitive play. Disc priests aren't quite as broken when you're dealing with larger teamfights and fully geared DPS (only major downside to too many is the shield debuff). You'd be perfectly fine rolling disc or resto shaman.

Hmm... Good point. I hadn't thought about the difference in damage output between xpon/off. Maybe I'll go resto shaman for a bit more utility. Does it matter what server I'm on? Seems like most xp off people I know tend to bounce around a lot and I'd like to find one server with consistent a twink population.

A lot of the XP off people are on Bleeding Hollow

Laurenti's guide will not let you down. My boy has mistweaver gameplay down to a tee.

You mentioned Holy paladin does not have enough mobility. With pursuit of justice and gift to cloak enchant a holy paladin should have a near constant 140% movement speed. Pretty tough to top if mobility is your # 1 factor.

/cheers

can get another 10% on boots so 150% total... rsham can also run at 150% speeds with ghost wolf although has to lose the movement to heal

I'm not really sure why I hate holy pally, but I've always blamed it on mobility... I tend to prefer the utility of rShaman, the instant stopping power of Priests, the versatility of druids, and the randomness of mistweavers though.
HPally just feel really bland for a healing class.

Priests aren't very OP if there's resto sham on the other team. They also don't stack very well. But if somehow you end up with too many heals on your team, you can go full dps mode and do 150k+ easy. However, they're very slow, since you don't get feather until 30.

I'd recommend resto shaman, from the criteria you've given.

I play Hpally and i love it even though yes my heals are a little lower than most i hold my own pretty well, but yes even though i have 150% movement which is nice once i get slowed i am in a bad spot and cant heal, and yes holy shock heals stupidly low amounts
