<jcm> Looking for premades

Let's not deviate with that nonsense. But for the sake of discussion; given the insanity of speed stacking in WoD and that mounts are at 60% instead of 100, this happy medium should satisfy both camps.

There is no more quadruple speed stacking. Its cloak + Boots (if you want to sacrifice 200hp).

What are your thoughts towards jumps/exploits?

I feel strongly against jumps being allowed, and obviously exploits too. I feel as though jumps put a damper on premades because they reward poor play, especially GY jumps. I'm okay with some of the jumps, but if you were to ask if I would like to play with every jump allowed, or with every jump banned, I'd want to play with them all banned.

I like the idea of splitting up your playerbase to include randoms. It will foster goodwill and encourage even teams. We did that at 29 during the first half of the expansion for about 5 months. It will encourage competitors to make toons even of their direct friend group isn't doing so. Their making a 39 and relaying how great the bracket is will have a domino effect. That's how 19s took off this year.

I've talked about this earlier in the thread and I'm not opposed to it, however I'd like to leave it as a last resort if possible. My main concerns are:

1. There are a lot of players in my own guild, almost to the point where we can field two premades teams by ourselves. If we were to set up premades like this, it would likely only be ~5 players not from jcm participating. If friends in my own guild want to play, I'm not willing to kick them out so a few other random players can participate. It would probably just come across as us being selfish and only trying to help ourselves to a lot of people.

2. More than likely, it will cause a lot of players to want to transfer to Sargeras so they have the chance to play in "competitive" games, and that is exactly what I DON'T want to happen. I want players to be interested in the other guilds out there, I don't want my guild to house 70-80% of the premade ready players.

This is something I experienced at level 70 in Cataclysm when my guild started hosting different events. We were the ones making things happen, and as a result other players would just randomly transfer over to our server (Sargeras back then too) and ask to join the guild (we'd deny them). Eventually, Sargeras had a monopoly over almost all of the competitive players in the bracket, and other guilds struggled as a result. That is something I do not want to see happen again here.

Again, it's not something I am completely opposed to, but if possible I would much rather help other guilds gain members rather than become a powerhouse that controls almost the entire bracket. That's not going to help this bracket in the long run. I think the bracket needs competition between guilds to survive.

Either way, I'd like to talk to other players from my guild and see what their opinions are. This isn't a decision I'm willing to make on my own.

if i reroll a twink on sarg can i have a guild invite

i pwnt @sudo CaddMC in the 29 bracket

Whats BiS <Alliance> 39 <Windrunner> could field a 10 man or close to it if we could get everyone on. My two cents, enhance will be the biggest FOTM class in this bracket. Also, play twin peaks, no jumps to worry about, better map, and all the flag carrying goodness of WSG.

I'm completely down to play TP but I was under the impression that WSG would be what more people prefer

Have a chat with your team I guess, if there's interest then let me know and we can set something up.

I'm suggesting it be the first resort and transitioned away from as premade ready guilds come online.

You overstate the downside of bringing lots of guildies. They aren't on all the time. Create a rule that you will bring 10 guildies, and pug the rest, only to break if composition necessitates it. Rotate unused members in who can arena during the PuGmade. Hell, you would only be using 10 if it were against a different guild, so no love lost.

I'm trying hard to find a downside in this plan.

Honestly, WSG is the go to BG for nearly all brackets. But what with the jumps and all being a hot button topic, I'd MUCH rather see twin peaks become the default 39 BG to que into. besides, it's a nice change of scenery. Been running the Gulch since Nilla, I think it's time for some new material.

+1

Lets get in on some twin peak action plz

TBH TP has a lot of appeal to me. the distance between the cap spots seems a little larger which makes it a lil harder to get across solo and promotes team play.

The gy's cant be farmed ! there are two gys so if you die at one you res at the other making farming extremely difficult and puts you at a positional disadvantage .

new map in general is super nice.
and tbh I think it would be a big draw and it would set the bracket apart from others if we qued both on que days.

I'd appreciate a reply to this.

I'd appreciate a reply to this.

I have replied to this subject twice so far.

My point with my guildies being involved is that this event WILL be scheduled, this is not something that I'll just do out of the blue (obviously). So with it scheduled, the vast majority of them will be online if they'd like to participate. A rule to limit people from my guild probably makes the most sense compared to any other option but as I've said before, I don't really see myself kicking players in my guild for randoms. If anything it would have a higher chance of helping the games to keep them because I can vouch for a lot of them being strong premade players. It would be much easier to gauge the balance of games with players who I have experience playing with as opposed to randoms.

This is not something I was expecting to happen for quite some time when I originally made this post. At the time that I wrote it I also had not yet volunteered to be "bracketmaster", and things such as this had not even crossed my mind. I just figured by putting ourselves out there and saying "hey, we have a team, we are here and ready to play against anyone", it would light a spark under some other community members to hopefully make something happen down the line. I've gotten interest from several different potential teams, so things are going about as well as I've expected them to at this point in time.

Either way, my priority here has always lied heavily in the development of other guilds, and hosting events like you're suggesting will do nothing but bring a large amount of attention to my guild and nothing to others. I feel as though that's a bit counterproductive for the brackets' development as a whole.

Anyway, I'll be talking to others and seeing what they think. I won't decide anything today, or probably even within the next week; setting up a premade system involving my guild + a bunch of others who would like to play is a lot of work (speaking from experience). Please just be patient. Bugging me about this will not speed up the process.

I appreciate the reply. It sounds like you think the downside is your fear that other guilds won't push for premade squads if they can just PuGmade. I'd argue the opposite because you need smoke before fire. People have contacted you about interest, but that's a long way from discussing a date. I'd wager teams would be more confident in their dicks not getting put in the dirt if they could simultaneously play with and against you. It would have a secondary benefit of improving average player skill outside your guild. I believe that's what your striving for if you want a random scene to proliferate.

Essentially you will be doing exactly what you're preparing random games for - balancing the skill your guild brings on both factions. In this case, it would be casual premades "PuGmades" with appropriate skill/class balance.

I, with the help of a few others, did this role at 29s. It can be a headache herding cats, but those were the best games because of that effort to balance teams' skills and class role/strength wise. I guess that's another downside- not wanting to go back to randoms.

It's definitely worth further consideration. Let's see how tomorrow night goes.

Well, yes and no. You're correct in that a huge fear of mine is people choosing to pugmade instead of premade, definitely. However my concern lies more with individual players as opposed to the guilds.

Picture a scenario where we have my guild doing regular premade nights, involving several others from the community to get games going and kind of spread around the activity, and we have a few other guilds on the side trying to build their rosters. If you were a player on the outside (or just joining the bracket) interested in premades, which is more appealing: the guild who is hosting regular games, or the other guilds struggling to form rosters?

I just don't want to inadvertently give other guilds problems by making players have less interest in them, that's all.

Yeah, I imagine it's somewhat unappealing to try form a team to play against an already established squad which has had a decent amount of success elsewhere. I definitely see what you're saying here, and you make a good point in that it may help "inexperienced" premade players gain a bunch of experience, and very likely improve overall. This would be even more true for potential guild/premade leaders, as they'll learn some of what they need to do themselves in order to lead a team.

Yeah I've done this exact thing at 70 as well. Basically how the process went was I created a guild on my server, and got everyone who wanted to participate to make a level 1 character to join it with the name they're most known as. On specific days, I appointed players randomly (however they were players that I knew and could trust to not troll) to hold a draft, and we created teams. The games we had were very good, but it lead to a lot of hurt feelings from players not being picked on specific days. It's definitely a huge headache to deal with which is why I'm not exactly willing to jump into this right now.

Anyway yeah, we'll see how this weekend goes with TP/WSG as well as the Arena night next week. If those two are successful, then there's a much higher chance of something like this happening because it will show me that people do actually want to continue playing 39s.
