Is Battleground Twinking a thing anymore?

Players with their XP turned off are only able to do battle grounds with other players with their XP turned off.
And in my 1 month browsing this forum I have seen a dozen posts about haste cap, and a dozen posts about not being a meanie to the randoms in our groups, I have not seen a single post about organizing a PVP event. I have tried queing randomly, but after a few HOURS and not a single BG pop I just assume its not really a thing anyone does

Hi friends! So I run a guild for 20’s and we make custom battlegrounds for 20’s(no they aren’t lame) we’ve had over 40-100 participants in 1 week. Multiple Warsong gulches and Arathi basins, if you decide not to go the route of balanced competitive bgs and would like to try out pugging. I recommend Rdruid and you’ll prolly wait around 30mins-1-2 hours for a que pop and get one shot by a 29 twink! <3 here’s our guilds discord when that gets old for you! https://discord.gg/guildgoldentwinkies

if you do not want to turn off your xp, you can still twink and do normal bg at EVERY level, it involves some work, and also a subscription if you want to do higher lvl bg. all you need to do is buy gears from AH, gems and enchants and food and flask and runes are available from AH too. the gears are quite fixed, you buy the 1s and the 6s ie. lvl31 and lvl36 gears for 30-39 bg, buy 41 and 46 gears for 40-49 bg, its very easy now with the inter realm banking system, in the past i have to do many guild transfer just to get items back to my home realm, but now you dont even have that problem. there are gears thats 0, ie. 30, 40, 50, but i suggest you can skip them. a special bracket is the 35 and 45. these 2 specific lvl you can farm raid gears, the raid gears are as good as the AH ones, but they take time. all weapons are 1 lvl higher eg. lvl31 character can only use the appropriate weapon when they are lvl32 .. the good thing is, these gears are common, less common if you have a very specific secondary stats combination. once you are fully equiped, the players you meet in bg will die fairly quickly, most of them are lvlers, with bad gears. you need to leave the bg just before the game ends, so that you dont get that bg xp bonus, if you have no problem with gold, you can try this method. you might want to note, xp on bg dont pop that frequently, there are specific time when players come online, you will find out the time when you get into it, at certain hours bg will not pop for straight 4 hours. the higher the lvl you use this method, eg. lvl56 (ilvl320) and lvl61 (ilvl357), the more OP you will feel

35 is great for a low effort disposable pvp twink. A couple runs of SoO, and fill in missing slots with the pvp gear you buy from the vendors with marks of honor...most of it is almost as good as the SoO stuff.
It's nice to have at least 2 twinks available, so when you quit before the bg ends you can just swap and queue your 2nd one and not worry about deserter.
Low level queue times are pretty bad right now, Blizz really needs to just make lower level bgs cross faction to speed things up.

in some of the bgs, people talked about having to wait over an hour .. and the bgs is 50% of the time half filled or not even half, so the game ends after 5 mins .. i cant understand how a million players in wow and not 20 players at any time wants to play battleground ? or are there so few players left
i run SoO on my own and my characters gears filled up really fast (together with ToT and Dragonsoul), at lvl31-39, the Queen's Garnet gems will make them OP
