Instant cast heals being toned down and player HP being doubled

Hello everyone. So the newest Dev Water cooler has come out and they have been talking alot about healer, resilience, battle fatigue, and reducing the amount of instant casts in the game.

I would recommend you read the full article for all the details but I wanted to bring to attention that some spells will definitely receiving a (rather short) cast time. One of these for example, word of glory if specced into Holy will be given a 1.5s cast time. It's not fully fleshed out of course. Also they seem to be talking about doubling player health pools post-stat squish, and deliberately making healing less effective compared to health pools.

Article here if anyone hasn't read it yet: Dev Watercooler: Building Healthy Gameplay - World of Warcraft

Keep in mind the health boost will come post squish. We don't know what the numbers will be like. Blizz is hoping they'll someday be able to do away with battle fatigue completely.

I still haven't figured out why they had to add battlefatigue in the first place. I mean, can't you just make heals weaker to start? Then if that makes them too weak in PvE, change the PvE mechanics. It's almost as if they had two separate teams working on PvP and PvE who didn't communicate with each other until they were all done, and realized that the numbers didn't work out, and so some head dev decided to throw in this kluge at the last minute.

Yeah nvm then. Base health @ 20 is around 900 hp. Which would bring my 1500hp paly down to 1200hp. I think we can expect health pools related to cata.

So the stat squish means that 1200 HP +1200 = 2400? Something like that? I'm bad at math so I'm more than likely way off.

I have 1500 hp on my ret. Let's say base health is 900 which is being removed, putting me @ 600hp just from my gear. Doubling this would put me @ 1200hp. Someone please correct me if this is horribly wrong.

You say it like it's a far-fetched scenario, but that is almost certainly what happened.

YES YES YES

it is finally happening!

Holy shock had no business being unlocked at level 10(looking at penance here too)

Now to just tone down all these "flash heals" such as flash of light and flash heal. Make it oldschool flash of light=fast, shit heal which costs a whackton of mana
holy light-slow, inexpensive but good heal.

Flash of light healed for what like 80-100 health...return that. Just to keep in mind what 19s had similar healthpools to these level 20 suckers being at around 1350-1750 health

They had Holy shock because it was the classes signature spell at the time, or a main spell. Like Arms got MS, and Assassination rogues had Mutilate. Holy shock is only strong because it has a 25% chance to crit on top of it. without that it's output would be the same as it was in Cata, except a little higher give or take...

Actually no. Those were the signature abilities at max level. But part of the point of twinking was making do without those abilities. I liked my spriest without shadowform or these other newfangled spells. I liked spriests when they were marginalized back in vanilla, and then when they got good at max level in TBC, I liked them at 39 where you had to be good to make them work.

I like to expect the best of people, but yes, I was being just a tad facetious. >.>

I prefer having my signature spell now rather than later. Be grateful that Destro didn't get Chaos bolt instead, or Affliction with haunt. It could be worse. trust me.
