How To Loot Items With No Experience Gain
Why?
Every twink gets to a point where he/she is about to go a level up. But when you started the twink, you didn’t realize Blizzard was going to implement those changes on new weapons and gear. In your eyes, seeing other twinks with the items, it is needed for you to also get the items. Unfortunately, you are so close to level 20 that you are afraid of trying, because you don’t want you character to level up.
When you recognize the situation you came to the right address. This guide is especially for those people that want some gear, but can’t spare anymore experience. So, read it and try it yourself!
Preparations
Before you can start, you have to keep a few things in notion:
-You have to have explored the Area/Instance
-Make sure you know what boss drops your item
Then, try to get a mate with a level high enough to be able to run the instance without dieing. Preferably the class of your booster will be a healing class, able to resurrect you.
For most classes this is level 45+ to be able to do it in a reasonable amount of time.
The instance:
As an example I'm going to take Gilnid in The Deadmines in Westfall.
Go to Westfall with your friend. Make sure you two are not in group with each other. Let the higher level clear all the way to the instance, with you following him/her on a safe distance.
When you are in front of the portal of the instance, you invite your friend to the party. Set the loot system to Need-Greed.(by right clicking your portrait when you are the leader of the party).
Next, your friend enters and he will clear every mob till Gilnid. All this time you are waiting outside of the instance, ready to enter the portal.
When your friend enters the room with Gilnid in it, he calls you. You enter the instance and run towards him. When you reached him, you have to tell him that he doesn't do anything untill you are dead.
You run straight towards the boss, make sure you remove all your armor and weapons because of the durability loss. Try to get as near to the boss as possible and let yourself be beaten to pulp.
At the moment you are dead, your friend runs in, and kills everyone present.
Now you have 2 options:
-Let the higher level loot the boss.
-Let the higher level resurrect you and you loot the boss.
I would go for the first option because after the looting, you can release your spirit and run back to the entrance of the instance, without the foresight of being killed by mobs.
So, the higher level player loots the boss, while you are still dead. Due to the Need/Greed-system, you can press Need on the dropped item. Let the higher level pass on the item, so you are certain that you will win the item.
If the item you so greatly desire doesn't drop, you can repeat all this by releasing your spirit to the graveyard closest by. Then run in spirit form back to the instance portal. Let your friend get out of the instance and reset it by clicking the right mouse button on your portrait. Then try again.....
OH NO!!!Problems:
I took The Deadmines as an example, because it's one of the few lower level instances that has patrol spawns. After you trigger an effect by killing a certain group of mobs, a patrol will spawn. The patrol is always there and will stay away for 5 minutes after you've killed hem. The problem is:
SCENARIO 1
You are ready to enter the instance, because your friend cleared all the way, but when you enter the instance, you suddenly aggro a patrol. This can be easily solved using the following method:
Whenever your friend is ready with the clearing, he runs back to come and get you. Before you enter he kills the patrol in the first room and makes his way to the room Gilnid is in. When he gets to killing the 2nd or 3rd patrol, you can enter the instance and run to the room where Gilnid is. Problem Solved.
SCENARIO 2
You did everything according to plan, but you still run into a pack of mobs. Whenever you do, don't kill them!!! Whenever this happens, you just got to whisper your friend and tell him you've encountered mobs and that they are most likely going to kill you. Well they do, but not by accident.
If you encounter mobs you just let yourself die, and let the higher level take care of it. After you died, your friend runs in and kills the mobs. Afterwards he resurrects you and you'll both go on your merry way.
Make sure, that when you die, you won’t immediately release your spirit. I’ve noticed that I do it all the time out of automatism.
Recap:
If you keep yourself on the path of this guide, you will certainly gain 0 experience during the whole thing. This lack of experience gain is needed to provide you with a spare amount for sudden occasions you didn’t calculate. I hope it's anything useful to you and also hope you will enjoy your newly gotten items.
Good Luck.
