If you could re-roll and be 78 in 9 seconds!

I played a MMO once called "Tabula Rasa" . While the game was crap it had one concept I wish that would carry over to other games, which is level transfer. You could "clone" your highest level and make him something else.

I don't know how many people they would get back from losses but if they did do this, I am sure some would come back. Even if you could just get credit for levels earned to delete the old and start new. The draw backs could be sacrifice of EVERYTHING you have earned.

They would have to base this on xp earned if it were ever ( never will I am sure) to happen and give you tokens you could spend to buy levels from your deleted/sold toon. You could spend some to earn levels you are have trouble with. Of course Blizzard would not give you 1:1 ratio of your xp for the coins so they can make more money from it. The best idea for them would be you sell us you level 80 and lose all of your gear and we will give you buttnaked level 78 (if you were to use all of your xp coins).

How does this tie into twinking? Well if they were ever to do this it would help you start a level 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, 79. Blizzard wins since they get you to keep playing and you have to go out and get more gear. This really would be a great future trade skill, kind of like DE'ing you toon. The coins could be BoA and show in your character selection screen to be used on a new server, new race, new name, entire new faction.

NOTE: This is just my wish. In no way, shape, or form, would blizzard EVER think of this.

sounds like something that would break the basis of an mmorpg

the reason people are so into WoW is because they get obsessed with their characters and ultimately get them to 80. but allowing people to just create new characters will disallow for that experience with a character to build and will ultimately be a shallow experience.

I am not sure this is a valid comment coming from someone so low on the tetris scrore board. JK.

On a serious response, You are correct in that statement.

I had a buddy that re-rolled from Alliance to Horde, when doing so I lost the ability to pvp with him and stopped all together ( I was working in another state at the time of re-roll). Now he is pretty far ahead of me and no matter how much I advance he will be above me with that vested time.

The time would still be put into the toons. Just not the BS time of going and running the same quest over and over.

To expand on this idea, let us say you would have to complete a chain quest for each 10 levels you reach (similar to DK quest) that would give you talent points along the way and some starter gear.

Imagine if you will, a patch comes out. 1 class gets a buff while other get a nerf. Classic blizz style of course. 50% of the class that got nerfed switch to the new fotm.

What happens to game play at that point? Everything gets skewed. The nerf to a class gets even bigger by the amplified effect of that increase in population of the new version of what ever class. I.E. exorcism that was removed 3 days later. And I suppose blizz would transfer those people back as a courtesy because of the nerf?

The man hours are staggering as it is trying to fix ulduar.

The larger issue is the Big Picture. To you, its vested time with your friend. To the WoW community as a whole it's some semblance of balance alot of us feel may never happen.

One thing you forget is that Blizzard sets a cooldown time on everything. If you do this it would be for a good long time (like when you change servers). Second thing is, I do not know anyone that would just give up their toon that has great gear on a nerf. This would mainly be those that rolled something and did not like it. For those that have been in big end-game guilds and have had the gear you must know what I mean. How about when your guild really needs to fill a void of ranged dps, tank, or healer, you are willing to fill that. That means you would know the fights and your guildmates already without having to retrain or recruit new/unknown blood.

The problem is, of course, that the reason behind leveling a character is to get a feel for the class mechanics and abilities.

Which is why so many ebay players have no idea how to function in a group/raid setting and are generally avoided like plague carriers.

The reason DKs are able to sidestep this is the introductory quests that they have to go through in order to progress out of the Instanced section and into the Live game. The quests essentially force you to learn to DK so that you aren't completely helpless once you get to SW/Orgimmar

I wouldn't be for a service like this, paid or otherwise

My 0.02$

You are very correct in that statement. We resolved that complaint by adding the quest similar to DK in the above post.

I don't really like this idea, and i know that blizz wouldn't either. that's because they make money from monthly fees, and the fact that people get bored of their mains and start to level alts keeps tham playing and makes blizz more money. if they did this, nobody would spend time levelling alts, and blizz wouldnt make as much money.

Good comment, but how do they get the money from someone who quits the game because they are sick of all the same time sinks in leveling?

If you could get a set of quest from point A, complete at point B, turn quest in at point C (where you would obtain the next series of quest), this would be ok. Blizzard forces the extra time sink of return to point A for a turn in of that quest and then the time sink of go in search of many other quest in many other places for sub-par low gear/currency.

When you level many toons to level 80 with multiple accounts you would soon be caught by this. I just prefer playing the game than to farm time sinks.

This could all be put to rest if Blizzard would increase the difficulty of the end game content. Give end game users something to shoot for on all levels. Don't tone down the challenges at the end game level for the QQ'ers. That last comment is only a half-truth though. I think that is great that they made content that can be obtained by many more players. I just think that other users should be able to run a harder instance for the chance at greater gold spoils or honor points/other in-game currency, but the same gear drops.

Indeed this a vague thread with many complex parts/answers that all involve faults I find with a good game that I have enjoyed for years but maybe time to hang it up. I also think that some crafted items should be on par with the highest/best items in the game. Star Wars Galaxies is a game that sucked in all parts except crafting.

the vast majority likes farming time sinks

it's been becoming a casual's game for awhile now. putting in more challenging content will turn off many players.

besides, there's something that does have difficulty - PVP
