There is f2play cap with levelers. If f2play got dumped into locked games it would be a shit-show of locked 29 there to crap on f2play. (whether they could or not, that's the reality)

I was likely capped-60 then, crapping on levelers in AV or losing to 69's in WSG/AB... but at least we had raids and stuff.

Good times tbh I still have bad memories of being cave camped in av by 20 paladins while my team has 10-15 players total lol
Enough thinking about the good ole days if wow went 100% free to play twinking would die completely lol. Maybe outside of pve things the pvp side would be dead except for the occasional revival that would then die due to infighting and hurt feels. Ahem 39 revivals anyone?

are you sure? I don't remember it being 20-24 but it was a while ago as well. Yeah I had to go google it and you were right. Was I lvl 24 or 29? I remember getting games on that rogue back then with xpoff though. Pretty sure it was 24 then because I remember having an argument on the wow forums over the positives and negatives of being 24 vs 21 as a rogue.

With the acknowledged caveat that it’s certainly not going f2p any time soon and probably won’t ever go f2p…

I’d quit. Ive already got a foot out the door and playing within the restrictions of a f2p account is the only thing really keeping my interest

If they just throw the whole game f2p then that goes away and the only holding me here goes with it

Yeah you are right about that for sure, I highly doubt blizz would remove it. Reading through this thread I might have gotten the wrong impression.

yeah its actually really good when I think of the mmo's I have played over the years. I have been dragging a toon through 50-60 just to get some xmogs and stuff for the next xpac and its a terrible experience. I have way more fun just hanging around on my vets/f2ps then anything over max. Hell I have more fun on the 30 warlock I am working on then max lvl.

The good thing is, if they make the game F2P, how much worse can they make it? It's already full of obnoxious time gates and stuff so it feels like any annoying F2P mobile game. I forgot about all these things until I started unlocking things like the Class Hall and WoD garrison on my new F2P 20.

The LEVEL BRACKET died. 10-19

They all LEVELED to match the f2play cap of 20. They became 10, but they arent 10's anymore -----> that bracket is now DEAD. The only brackets that survive at all are xp-capped brackets. The one's ------> with LEVELERS. Even 50's for a while.

If f2play goes to locked XP they become the fodder for bracket-cap locked twinks. There's always fodder for the trash twinks.

edit- not every 10 leveled.... they're too cool to ruin. But they dont get games.

10-19 dying had nothing to do with levellers being removed again, it was because classic came out and everyone went there because twinking on retail had become so stale in recent expansions (mainly due to the levellers infact) with no meta changes or any class actually feeling 'fun' to play, no real uniqueness to any class below level ~40, 20-29 is still active because it doesn't require a subscription so everyone with a 2nd account has access to it.

unsubscribed account -> you play 20s

twinking doesnt die without levellers, this website is proof of that, the name even comes from 'xpoff brackets' and the time when this forum had the most activity was during mop/wod where the most active bracket was 10-19 just looking at the sheer number of topics and messages.

39s died because Sun stopped laying the groundwork for Asmongold make dozens of people play 39s.
29s did die from lack of levelers.
49s died from no longer being the first bracket with mounts. Which is to say 49s died a long ass time ago.
Levelers did more to kill 19s than the lack of them.

19s survived for years without levelers, it died whilst there was still levelers there.

What happened it the past is irrelevant currently. I see what is happening at the momment. Brackets that don't have levelers are non-existent. When was the last time an xpoff lvl 19 twink or a 39 twink got bg pop? Not for an year or so.
