It's more a matter of principle. This opens the floodgates to a whole other kettle of fish of "I made my broken spec weaker can I play it now?" Yes you make feral not broken, but you hurt games indirectly by still just being a feral Druid. You don't remove the stigma and yes a lot of people will still complain and dislike it regardless of what you do to weaken yourself.
I'd say peoples reaction to this is appalling however. I can accept the reasons for wanting to play a class which has enjoyable mechanics / playstyle but unfair scaling. He's stated his reasons and they are sound, it just doesn't address the problem. And attacking someone for attempting to pursue a spec they enjoy whilst hurting the surrounding community as little as possible was uncalled for. The answer should still be no for reasons stated and I don't have power not voice anyway so why I say this I don't even know.
