Where do you see the damage has been boosted shanker? I only see the loss of 1 socket and exact same stats as before.

Dps is same but bigger damage range: 404 - 607 Damage -> 354 - 658 Damage. As far as I know, some people prefer weapons with larger damage ranges, but I don't think that it has any impact to dps. Just chance for bigger burst and chance to see slightly bigger numbers.

yes i would prefer 404+ to 658. the tighter the damage range (while still having high top end ofc) the better imo.

and AP is still staying on weapons iirc, just like spell power is staying on caster weapons to distinguish them....unless they changed that too
