Well to be fair we are getting higher and higher item levels in the 10-20 range.
Ilvl 61 was already too big, ilvl 84 is downright absurd. Sadly, if they keep reducing the stat every item level allow like they do we can't really go back to the old ilvl 25 from SL -which was quite a sweet spot in my opinion-. I mean for reference, the higher ilvl (over all slots) in SL was 28. To get an equivalent amount of stats to said ilvl in DF we needed to get ilvl 54. Now for the same amount of stats an item needs to be around level 80.
As fun as the overwhelming amount of stats was during DF it had to be nerfed. That said since classes keep getting more and more buffs we barely feel the stat drops on some specs (prot warrior is even stronger now).
So yeah I have no idea what the numbers are at 80 but my 70's already have over 1M HP with decent-ish gear and my Resto Shaman melts most mobs as a healer while I can solo world bosses on my warr. I know the scaling must help but still, geared level 80 must have well over 4-5M HP and hit like a brakeless tractor going down a hill.
My two cents are : why not smoothing out ilvl every xpac by making it just above our level (for instance let's use the old 25 at 20 and make it 100 at 70) then they go up to 200-250, go down to 125 at level 80 next xpac and raise the new ilvl cap by 50 or so rather than those massive jumps we get (i think from s1 to s4 in DF we got an extra 100 ilvl if memory serves).
Like why do they do these steep ilvl increases if they know they will have to nerf it sometime later.
Lower levels are made a mess -more than they already are- without any need to.
For instance stamina at level 20 varied so much in just 2 xpacs (and the start of another) that we went from 11HP per point to 12 to 8 to 6.
And yeah they did gave us more stamina baseline but now having a well geared character means you get an extra 600-700 HP or 50% more than baseline.
Gear should bot be feeling so unimpactful already and from the looks of it we won't get any better anytime soon.
All that to say : an ilvl squish is needed (average ilvl 84 at level 20 is ridiculous) but so is a stat balance for lower levels since as
@Robo said, 2/3 2/3 gear is gonna end up happening and as much as I'd enjoy some difficulty I don't think it's the way to go.
(That or maybe 100M HP players by the end of World Soul Saga which would admitedly be quite funny)
