i-DK what to do

Thx for response Chops. Yes, double ele force would make sense due to proc rate scalling with haste (and due to truncheon haste buff, it would double dip). Maybe its not a situation where one is better, but rather a situational one. Like a pressure and sustained dmg vs. Proc based burst windows.

I think the best combo for a ranged frost dk is like Chops said, cudgel/truncheon. Cudgel, due to having a weapon speed of 3.6 its amazing for proc based enchants, even if its green, and it synergies extremly well with EF enchant and a haste stacking build. I would like to ask tho, for the off hand, truncheon or not, wouldn't razorrice rune enchant be BIS? Due to increase frost dmg?
Cudgel + Truncheon is good, but not because of proc effects. Cudgel is good because the ability damage calculation is basically bugged for slow weapons, and Truncheon is the best available OH stat stick.

Cudgel's speed does indeed help PPM effects like Crusader, but there aren't any relevant ones that proc off of your ranged attacks, so that aspect doesn't really matter for a mostly ranged playstyle. Elemental force/hidden satyr do proc on ranged abilities, but they are RPPM so the procs are normalized for speed/number of attacks. They do scale with haste, but haste stacking isn't really good for frost because, last I checked, haste doesn't seem to affect frost fever at all (don't ask me why, I have no idea) and that is most of your damage. As for Rune of Razorice, it requires you to melee the target to apply stacks, so it also doesn't seem like it would work for the ranged playstyle.

EDIT
Skip all below if you just want this information (you should not skip it, because the weapons choice is tied DIRECTLY into your chosen build).

Crit/Verse with Cudgel/Truncheon - 2 X Elemental Force = Best Frost Padding Build
If you want to melee use Haste/Verse - Crowwing/Runeblade with Crusader (dual wield Crusader does not proc enough for a FROST and is just a Waste/Loss of Stats/Loss of effectiveness).

I won't get into what I really think.

2x Elemental force is obviously gonna give you the most PAD damage. I would 100% just use a swap macro for when you get into close quarters to just use Crusader... in it's current state you are just a fool for not trying to get a proc off when somebody is in your face... does not matter if you even just swap to something like the Crow-Wing-Reaper and spam Obliterate... you have a better chance of RNG not dying if you do that.

It's Cudgel/Truncheon or an i25 green with a socket. And Reaper/Runeblade if you want 2-H.

  1. Haste/Verse is your best single target build and your best Flag Catcher/Healer defender suit.
  2. Crit/Verse is your best padding build
  3. Mastery is "OK" on a Frost DK... the issue it has is that its pretty much on par with Verse... and if you are just going to build a BC Dungeon gear suit... you wont have that many slots to play around with Mastery anyway... just fill the gaps with Verse/Haste/Crit instead. You also get 16% by default for doing nothing.
You can look at Odi in the Armory... obviously he/she/they took single target killer to the extreme on SPEED and its a good single target kill set... he can run down druids, etc. You want to dump that much time/money into yours I would pick up that suit... I assume its in the millions of gold/months of farming range. It's fun and worth it.

Leech to me is a waste... if you are in the back padding you don't need it... if you are in a fight with a tier 1 melee you are most likely dead, and it won't help you much there. Leech is just in too much of a grey-area for Frost.

Critical strike is just a good stat if you want to just run around with Elemental Force. Overtime it will get you your 120k + games, just on it's own with RNG. I'll put my "frost padding" Crit/Verse build up against any other for just generally wasting time and trying to tax enemy heals. This is where the Cudge/Truncheon/i25 will work the best.

I would really just have 2-3 "suits" there are too many completely different ways to play Frost (which is one of its more fun aspects). In any flag game you are just gonna want haste/verse... it does not make runes come back like crazy... but if you have to stop somebody from winning you are gonna want the extra rune or two that it would provide in a Chains of Ice spam fest/panic fest. Or if you are on "protect the healer" duty, that extra rune or two works wonders. Protect the healer is the true "unsung-hero" duty for a Frost DK, but you can do it better than almost any other 20. This is where something like the Runeblade with speed will help you position yourself better on the field.

Most importantly:
  1. If you want to melee, Remorseless Winter is top notch as it just gives you that surprise stun gap to hammer on somebody.
  2. If you are stopping a flag/ guarding heals you want Death Chill, its just too important and powerful with the full root aspect.
  3. Delirium is just not good enough at 20.
  4. Dark Simulacrum might be good enough for an Duel or similar.

Alright, so im getting kinda lost in these big replies. So if I'm wanting a more ranged build I should have eforce on dual 1h weapons. But close range of crusader on a 2h? Just looking for direct answers before I go buying enchants lol.

Yes, That is exactly what you should do:
Crit/Verse Gear with Cudgel/Truncheon or i25 Green with a Socket - 2 X Elemental Force = Best Ranged Frost Padding Build

Haste/Verse Gear - Crowwing with Crusader = Best Melee Build

Haste/Verse Gear - Runeblade with Crusader = Best Utility Build

lvl20 frost lacks https://www.wowhead.com/spell=207230/frostscythe so it doesnt have a reliable way to get Razorice stacks built up on multiple people in bgs. Might be nice in arena, havent tried it personally, but you'd have to compare it against the effectiveness of sader and ele force

The truth is that no one knows whether 2H or DW is better because the math is too complicated. Experiment and see what you like best for yourself.
