How to make it as an Ele Sham

Played yesterday and got smoked. I couldn't do anything. But the thing is, I believe you should choose to play the spec you enjoy and for me that's Ele, so I want to find ways to make it work. I am crap at the spec to begin with so for all I know its perfectly viable, but I get the sense that its looked on as a "weaker" build in this bracket.

How can I make it work? How do you pvp as Ele in this bracket? What is an Ele Sham's role in WSG, are they more defensively or offensively inclined?

I found myself going OOM pretty fast, I'm squishy as hell, people smack down my Earthbind totems at the drop of the hat, my shocks get resisted, etc. When I got the chance to actually stand back and tee off on somebody, they were dead within seconds. But I found it difficult to put myself in that position.

Any tips?

I`m no expert at all on Ele Shamanns so can`t help you much but if you are getting resists, make sure you have some Spell Pen. Make sure you have at least the 20 Spell Pen to cloak enchant.

As the bracket is bursty try to get at least 3k health as well. Or at least make sure you have 3k with a Rumsey Rum. Always have stacks of them in your bags you can use every rez, they are so cheap there is no excuse not to tbh.

Play in D, make sure you are on roof (or balcony or tunnel roof). Off-heal, do some dmg and knock people down from the roof.

Playing an ele sham takes a lot of practice. When against 1-2 opponents, you need to use thunderstorm, earthbind and frost shock efficiently and just kite till they're dead. By now you should know that if u stick around ur opponent for more than a couple of seconds, you're dead meat.

What you'll be most useful at and will probably enjoy the most, is protecting the fc. Use thunderstorm to knock enemies away... throw a couple of heals and as you said yourself, do all the dmg u can while everyone is targeting the fc instead of you.

Now the mana thing, I'm afraid thats just that... You could just have mbs all the time or try to alter your play style a bit.. Use water shield... get a bit more spirit, you know.. stuff. Hope that helps!

I'm going to act like I know how to play a shaman by repeating everyone else and adding 1 more thing :p

Play on D, Any shaman on D is good mainly because of Magma Totem. Think of Magma Totem as a Hunter's Flare but it actually does dmg :p Putting one on the entrance to Roof is really good because it's gonna be hard for any stealther to get past it without going out of stealth(which is what u want them to do).

As for healing, the 39 bracket is very competitive. When I say competitive I mean most games will almost seem like a premade everytime. When I say Premade I mean, everything is very organized and almost everyone is in vent coordinating everything to each other(which is why I argue that the 39 bracket is the best<3). Back to what I was saying, as for healing you shouldn't need to off-heal because of how competitive the bracket is. Most FC's will have atleast 2 healers with them at all times(unless of course there weren't any healers in que, if that happens then by all means u should off-heal :p)

For playing D, Like I said keep a magma totem up at the entrance of Roof(not the top level, but the bottom level where u can Mount up) Your goal as a Shaman is to keep the Enemey Offense Team inside tunnel. If for what ever reason they go past your magma totem, run back at the top of where YOUR flag carrier should be, and get ready to Thunderstorm them back down below(where u first put ur magma totem up) at this time, your FC has two options: Have faith in your D-Team to kill the Enemey Offense team, or he'll run down to shelf and/or go to GY. If he does drop back down, Put a magma totem up on the roof on the area where you CANNOT mount up, this will get any other stealthers out of stealth if they are trying to chase the FC. (EDIT Don't be afraid to attack if it's only a few ppl, but if it's 4-6 ppl coming out of the tunnel, then u should do what i just said :p)

Aside from anything else I said, just try do do some good dmg. Help CC by using Earthbind totem(ppl will obviously try to kill it so they dont get CC'd but not everyone is smart enough to do it :p) It'll help you by having good crit, get at least 3k hp, and the best way to live in the 39 bracket is always stay grouped up. It's a very competitive bracket, anyone who runs around alone will get killed fast.

Good luck!

Ive played a shammy all my wow life and basically what I learned is that you kite with earth bind and frost shock and deal damage in-between there cool downs and when you are a safe distance away from them. The rest comes easy

Anyone that tells you playing an Ele shammy in the current 39 bracket is easy is not being honest or does not know what they are talking about. Other than the times I have had the opportunity to try (I am a healer first) I have seen one other toon give it a shot. They leveled out the next week. I personally enjoyed it, but it takes a great deal of finesse to pull it off and you have to be very well aware of your limitations.

You cannot run in guns blazin like a ret or enh. You do not have the freedom of a mage (any spec), but you do have a ridiculous amount of utility and if you catch the dispellers sleeping a significant amount of lava burst to the face. If I was not always needed as heals/FC you can be sure I would be giving Ele all the play time it needs.

You need to put 20 Spen to cape, work with other shammies on earthbind roations, and do not forget about your shocks! Also, do not forget about the absurd off heals you can do. It makes me sick when a heal while specced Ele hits as hard as one in Resto. (mana as you stated can be an issue, but work that shield) Not to mention you have the ability to purge. With Disc bubbles being so ridiculous having someone on offense who can purge them, ground MC, and shear a healer is invaluable. And lets not forget you can completely separate an O or D with thunderstorm.

It is all in how you use the class/spec to your advantage. Yes, it will be more difficult to pull of succesfully, but it makes it that much more satisfying when you do so.
