RNG and gear grinds or skill based play... hmm

My only GW's gripes,
1 it seems all the best players are leaving, thus expotentially destructing the situation
2, ATM i am short on cash, and could not afford GW:2 anyway
3, think of the gnomes, who will /punt them if we all leave??

There's nothing to be excited for. You have no idea what is officially going to be released until it's finally released. That's also another reason to not worry about new abilities and how they will scale on release.

However you should be worried about picking up every possible BiS item as soon as the Pre-Patch for MoP is released(The Patch that introduces some of the stat/talent changes for MoP before the actual expansion is released). Nothing will be more sexy than the first Generation of F2Ps with Cata Grandfathered gear.

Nothing is official or unofficial on PTR. You won't know until either the Pre-Release Patch and/or the actual Expansion release.

I don't think any BiS items are being GF, but it does seem that some achievements and Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade - Item - World of Warcraft are being GF. Achievements on the PTR seem account wide, with no distinction between individual and account achievements, so that doesn't seem to mean a whole lot. That said, the tabard could well be gone forever. Speaking of tabards...

Personally, I'm more interested in the pre event than MP itself. I had a lot of fun with the scourge invasion, although I'm assuming this won't quite be the same. Still, Theramore Tabard - Item - World of Warcraft will be nice RP and memories for some. Lore and story and FoS are usually things I enjoy doing.

The tabard doesn't look all that different to the standard guild tabard and anchor symbol, but it is one of the few tabards with a front and back, and so looks good without displaying your cape. It also has an on use function, which is another rarity, as well as the fairly useless being blue quality. Also rare. The on use isn't a port to Theramore, unfortunately, but plants a banner. Since it shares a CD with the Argent tournament banners, I'm assuming it will be something similar to that.

"Remember (the) Theramo(re)!"

Can't wait for Warhammer Online. I mean Conan. I mean Aeon. I mean Rift. I mean The Old Republic. I mean Guild Wars 2. Yeah, that's the game that will show Blizzard how it's done.

On the left corner: ease (angry birds and farmville)
In the middle: challenge (starcraft and chess)
On the right corner: selfdiscovery (go, martial arts, sports in general)

"WoW killers" are just crappy slot machine clones (WoW clones) and set heavily on the left side with wow.

GW2 is between ease and challenge, and sacrifices 'addiction' mechanics in the process. Wait, you're giving me all the best pvp gear right now? Why would I play if there is no carrot in front of my nose?

Make no mistake, more people want ease and play games because of 'addiction' mechanics. Blizzard knows what they are doing, it's intentional. Showing a publicly traded company a more humane way to interact with users is not going to change greed.

Curse of the Fishing Gear: actually, this should be posted elsewhere , but its proof of the point.

Jonathan Blow, a designer whom I deeply respect, gives a great talk on video games and the human condition. He makes the point quite clear. I'm not writing this for the vocal group that hates change and wants to feel empowered by some feeble attempt to connect ignorance with history. This is for those that want to look deeper, to understand what is really happening.
