how is DK dmg in MoP? (blood)

  • so, anyone that got the invite to the beta, could you please tell me how the damage fairs as a blood dk? seems like it got nerfed to the ground, can someone confirm?

It didn't get nerfed to the ground, they're re-balancing almost all abilities that deal percent-based weapon damage to fix the scaling in low level pvp. To compensate, all weapons are getting their dps/damage doubled. The reason was to fix AP scaling on rogues at low levels etc. The damage WILL be lower, but the difference isn't anywhere near as big as it looks.

    Example in Shadowmourne.

Live version: Shadowmourne - Item - World of Warcraft
MoP version: Shadowmourne - Item - World of Warcraft
(you have to click the links, mouseover won't work for the beta website)
    It should work out OK.

so they increased the dmg from all melee weapons and reduced the attackpower scalation?

yeah, looks like the whole double wep thing is correct, all abilities in the MoP calc have been changed

Won't that mean that melee white hits will go up, meaning dps will go up? I dunno, but I'm pretty sure if it did, that'd be a good thing.

Melee twinks get shafted by us casters/ranged most of the time.

All of the skills that are based on % weapon damage are getting some kind of reduction, so it should stay the same (although far less shadowdance damage for example)

Chances are casters will get something similar (for example arcane will no longer have infinite mana = max mastery dps contribution at 80, since regen is ONLY from spirit, and max mana pool won't be increased by int anymore.

That's a shame, if they had kept the special abilities around the same damage, rogues would have probably been the new highest dps twink due to all their white damage.

"All of the skills that are based on % weapon damage are getting some kind of reduction, so it should stay the same"

CS has increased % wep damage on beta wowhead vs live, same goes for TV
so are you saying rets will lose AP to balance that out somehow, or is more % wep dmg + double base wep dmg/dps going to be a large buff. trying to wrap my head around this

Ret loses might passively, so i guess that has some effect. But hell, even if it gets a buff, it's about time tbh

hah yea i wont complain about a buff, but it might almost be too much. our sustained dps isnt as high as many (at least at 80), but we do have some good burst - tv can get 50-60k crits and CS can go over 20k easily when including mastery.
doubling our weapon damage and increasing cs/tv coefficients could make us insane in the burst department and will certainly raise our dps. and with judgment granting holy power in mop we'll be able to tv even more often...things are looking up for the time being
