How I Plan To Use Veteran F2P Account Status

I've given this a lot of thought, and really considered a lot of the points that many of you have brought up during discussions about the new veteran account status. Just a refresher in case anyone's reading this and doesn't know yet what that means, in 6.1 Blizzard is implementing a new feature for paid accounts, wherein, instead of being locked or frozen when they are out of game time or subscription, they instead will remain open with all the same Starter Account restrictions, including the chat, gold, and level 20 restrictions. There has been conversation that an F2P can upgrade to the Battlechest for five dollars, spend the free month earning additional benefits for their F2P, and then lapse back into Starter Account status again, known colloquially as "Veteran F2P" status.

So now that we're up to speed on that, I would like everyone to think about the repercussions of that, and simply reply to this post with what you intend to do with your accounts. There is no need to respond to or judge other people's decisions, nor is there a need to exceedingly explain or justify your own decisions. I want to use this to begin to gauge which way the community as a whole is leaning, so that we can better prepare for how this is going to affect the community going forward into this new future.

For myself, I've thought about this for a long time, and I've decided that I'm not upgrading my Starter Edition accounts. Kincaide and all my regular characters are going to remain Traditional F2Ps. I'm linked to an inactive P2P account, and if I really want to play veteran status, I'll start new characters on there. And if so, since I would have to buy game time at $15 per month in order to get those fancy gear pieces, I'll probably not get the full BIS enchants and stuff for quite a while. I can't justify the money and the time it would take to do that, when I'm already struggling in school due to the amount of time my moderation job is taking up.

So there you have it. One vote for remaining Traditional F2P. Go ahead and post your own personal plan when you've decided, and let's collect some sample data on how the TI F2P community wants to handle this.

I'll make several BiS 20's on my P2P account and if 20-29 bracket will not be so shitty as it is atm and i get bored of my 100's, i'll be back playing them.

That's my plan.

PS: I will also leave my f2p accounts untouched.

Make bis crutch 20 feral and occasionally go fuck people in the butt just for the hell of it :)

id think i'll just wait it out than jumping into conclusions before i look to see if there's a platform underneath me or fall into a chasm afterwords.

after all, the future is still out there and most of us are just guessing as to what road we will take from the scientific theory to present.

I also want to know specifically if you guys plan to upgrade your Starter Edition accounts, or leave them alone and only make characters on your P2P. Mesikämmen

Don't see a reason upgrading my f2p since I have a million year old p2p account with a couple twinks already.

Not sure what I will do with my f2ps. I will just see what happens in 6.1. My guess is that the bracket gets even more unbalanced than it currently is because you will have pure f2ps, veteran f2ps and 29s. Doesn´t make up for good competition. Imo you cant stop the evolution towards veterans...

I will definitely upgrade my 19s and see if 19 f2p becomes active since I am hoping for more competition in an even bracket (in terms of equal chances for everyone)

Edit: I also dont have a reason to upgrade my f2p acc, since I have a p2p one with many twinks.

It can hardly get any less unbalanced/competitive :(

I will stay F2P, no upgrading whatsoever. I feel like veterans will have major advantage over "classic" F2Ps, also I have put too much work to obtain 6k personal achi points, pets, mounts and toys and I don't want to lose it because as a veteran I could possibly get hundreds of pets and achievement items over AH throughout the first month.

But as Kinc said, no judging, explained for myself in the future if I lose faith in what I'm pursuing to come back here and read it up.

Cheers :)

Also have an inactive p2p account. Will sub for a couple of months and spend the time getting the guild looms I don't yet have. Have to wait and see if veteran accounts let you play characters made while subbed (even those <20) after the subscription runs out or whether you can only play toons made while in unsubbed mode. Obviously if we can will give playing the 19 bracket some serious thought

maybe i will upgrade just for 19 bracket, wont level a character to 56, limit is 55 4 me, since i can create DKs and farm rep for Argent Champion, other mounts that require lv 40. But might totally do this to another account and merge it with my F2P.

My F2P Account wont change. Ill test everything out on my linked P2P Account and most likely use that account if xp lock is available.

f2p is a thing and worthwhile. I have much to learn still. There will be a lot of activity on TI about how people are making best use of their veteran accounts. Lots of guides eventually I'm sure. I don't have the time to pioneer the trail - so i'll see what others do and may eventually create a second account for veteran use.
