EU+US How do you gear a f2p warrior?

handsomedgc

Scum of the earth
I'm wondering, can you be bis as a f2p warrior, because the lack of plate? I know invasion gear was plate, so I guess that is the only way?

idk about bis, but i logged on an old f2p, and was able to fill all my slots with plate from just the gear found in my bags. the difference between that, and "BiS" and is probably imperceptible to mere humans (such is the state of twinking). just level up to 20 and grab vendor gear/do a few quests, and your good to go.

this is the bis gear you use in non-heirloom slots: http://www.wowhead.com/items/armor/...q-level:20/side:2/class:1/group-by:slot#hands

as far as helm, if you're pure f2p and don't the heirloom unlocked, i guess you just go without. :(

There's plate for every slot via quest rewards, dungeon bosses and battlefield crates. BIS belt is alliance only; I know this because my 20 ret pally is still rockin the +10 strength mail belt and I was looking for a plate belt on wowhead......actually I would suggest anyone reading this to just use wowhead.

from what i've been hearing, i think the main thing about maximizing damage is getting the slowest weapon possible.
Yeah, loom axe is BIS for every 2H using spec.

There are only two major problem areas with warriors and paladins compared to all other classes in these new BiS rules that came with Legion: the waist and the head.

Without invasion gear, the BiS would be ilvl 21 Cobrahn's Grasp (Wailing Caverns) or ilvl 32 Brightplate Girdle (Alliance-only quest).

Helmet is pretty much exclusively the heirloom helmet, which is not available for f2p. I'm unclear if the 5% bonus is applied to each piece of gear that applies, or an overall bonus if you're wearing that armor type in all slots. If it is the former, then pre-Legion rules apply and BiS would still be Lucky Fishing Hat or any of the other good helmets from engineering

To clarify: if you missed out on Invasion (or didn't get any warforged) the BiS will be the ilvl 28 Battleground Crate rewards for one Ring, Legs, Chest, Wrists and Feet. Gloves can be the ones from Stockades or Blackfathom Deep. Shoulders will be heirloom, as will the weapon and trinkets. Cape will be Dungeon rewards, ring will be Seal of Argeas and Necklace you can do Scout's Medallion or or the Brilliant Necklace from Jewelcrafting

pvp box gears are neat for new alts

Yea, I think to address your concern, it should be pointed out that all the old mail gear got changed to plate when the expansion dropped. Skeletal gauntlets, sparkmetal bracers, etc. All of its plate now. (except the old satchel belts. weird). So gearing "the old way" will still put you in a pretty solid place, gear wise.

You can look to wowhead to find the highest ilvl gear for each slot and as some folks mentioned, a lot of that will come from pvp reward crates (have fun on that particularly awful grind) where blue items are ilvl 28. The invasion gear was 25 unless you got the warforged pieces (which could be 30 or 35). But even with none of that, you'll still end up with an average ilvl high enough to not handicap you in BGs.

So no, you can't technically be BiS anymore. Those pieces are grandfathered. But they're grandfathered for every class. But you can be "better than good enough".

Unless they changed it, you can't get Straw Hat without doing the Tiller's quests. :/

A shame, as it looks really neat!

Not sure if it's possible, but this shows up on wowhead as a plate option for some reason:

Sadly doesn't look possible. Pre-quest requires level 85 :(

You get a Straw Hat from being Best Friends with Old Hillpaw, not sure if Tiller rep is required. But he sends you a Straw Hat based on your class, and then you can purchase all the types from the Quartermaster. Unfortunately, they are BoP, so you will need to farm Hillpaw rep on the character you wish to learn the transmog on. I spent an afternoon or two farming Dark Soil on my Rogue and unlocked the leather Straw Hat.

Is that doable at other levels, now? o.o;

We can't loot Darksoil at lvl 20. You can't click on it or even see what it is with a mouse over. Not sure what the minimum level requirement is to loot it. Shame, would have been cool farming friendship on the Tiller's ;)

With regards to the plate helm, sort of a bit crap on Blizz' part that they haven't introduced any for lower levels. Really puts F2P's and those without the loom helm at a disadvantage in iPvP.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised none was implemented. I mean, they made so many other plate items..And a mail helm.

Guess I'm just fortunate to at least have the Invasion helm on my warrior and paladin. (Granted I never got lucky on helm slot for any class for the titanforged/warforged.)

It's only really an oversight to us. I mean, you can pick up a plate helm by the mid 20s, about the same time the LFG tool will spit you into Stormwind Keep. While the difference between getting gear at level 20 and level 21 is obviously everything to us, level 20 and level 25 is the space of about 2 hours to the average player who is just chewing through dungeons.
