How do you find BIS gear?

I used to use wowhead but now that gear scales with level, it seems that instead of just being able to sort by ilvl, I've got to click on each item in the search results, then slide the slider to my level (60) to see what it's ilvl and stats will be for me.

Surely this isn't the most efficient way to find BIS gear... or is it the only way? #plzhelpanoob
 
BIS is a very fluid concept right now. We're still trying to figure it out ourselves. I'd reach out to the 60s subforum and see if they can help you out with that specific level. I know this one rogue with a kakashi avatar was really excited for 60s a while back.....

Note that my warrior and rogue are versatility stacked, so for most normal builds some items may be unoptimal. However, the socket gear, which is the most important thing, is all updated. The trinkets and rings on my rogue and warrior are great proc items when stacking versa, but are also very good on their own, arguably bis on casters and other dps/tanks. There is no definitive bis, but there are definitely many different ways to gear your characters. Good luck!

Its all different and different type of gear. Some them same most probably not.

Class and level are also the huge factor.

Note that I didn't ask people to tell me what gear is best for me. I asked how to efficiently search for gear. The reason I asked is because, now, with gear scaling, if I go to wowhead and search for item level 60-150, I get back a list of gear, some of which is 840 (due to the scaling factor). If I try to limit the gear by also including a required character level of 60-60, it doesn't help weed-out the gear that can scale into the level I'm asking about. So...

if I want to know what gear is best for me -- regardless the context -- I have to click on every single piece, then use the slider that appears beneath the tooltip to show stats for my desired level (in this case, 60), and make notes of which states are what value at that slider-level.

It's do-able, but for the search function to work this way is much less useful than if it just returned the gear with the slider set to character level 60. I figured, anything this clunky may be operator error (mine!), so I'd better ask before I go wasting a bunch of hours doing the clunky thing.

Thank you for this. I didn't realize there was a loot tab in the dungeon journal (probably because I don't usually do dungeons).

Nah its not GFd, it gives the same stats as yours do, 8/12/8. Massive ilvl difference, no functional difference for wpvp.
 
if you are really into twinking for lower lvls ie. 49 or lower .. you should have farmed the Legion Invasion crates 1 month before legion was released .. the crates gives you items that is not available ingame anywhere else and it last throughout the entire legion expac .. if you havent got those crates .. maybe they will do it again for BFA .. so before BFA launches, you should make toons that are lvl10 and go sit there .. you dont even need to fight .. just sit there and when the bosses are dead you get 2 crates automatically .. in the case of legion .. why i said up to 49 is because once after lvl49, the ilvl does not jump 5ilvls anymore .. it jumped by 30 ilvl .. which makes these crate gears really not worthwhile to farm .. in some class you will still fill a slot or 2 with these crates item, but it doesnt fill up all 8 gear slots like for lvl49 or lower
