If you play 29's enhancement, then its not that much different. We try to encourage people to try other classes as that is one of the flavor of the month classes going around at this time.

That shadow priests/rogues and BM's mainly are classes we discourage, i mean you can still make the class if you want to. It is just hard to not get 3-4 enhances/3-4 rogues or 2-3 shadow priests running around in bg's. Just trying to balance it out.

Look my apologizes, i sometimes rush through with posts and not pay attention. Yea ele is average hybrid class, if your looking for a strong hybrid class. Then maybe ret or WW. But thats entirely up to you.

Fun facts from your neighborhood fluff ball.

The top casters in terms of burst in a small window are as follows. (no articular order)

1. ele shaman. ( lb lava fulm ) (2 sec) 10.44x SP non crit or 16.24x SP if crits or 12.84xSp Instant lava fulm assuming crits

2. arcane (ab missiles pom-ab) (2sec) 11.55x sp non crit or 17.33x sp if crits

3. spriest ( mb dp + dots including 2 sec of a previous dp) (-1.5 sec) 8.94x sp 13.41 sp if crits.

4. boomy ( starsurge displacer bite + dots) ( -1.5 sec) 12.8x sp 19.2x sp if crits.

5. destro ( cb +incinerate+ conflagx2+ immolate dot + lash of painx2 ) (2.5 sec) 12.61 x sp or 16.6xsp if crit

most ppl have 315 ish sp running a stam heavy set . my rdruid has 355 in bgs so u can see roughly how much damage you will do and where you stand vs everything else .

all other specs have lesser burst but excel in one area or another as an example fire mage is at about 9.3 x sp ( fb py py ) ( 1.5 sec) but is completely mobile and can pull 19.6 x sp damage from rot spread in a single gcd if ppl stack.

anyways back to work for me .hope this helps a little more than " bro its alright"

( note 8xsp of boomy burst is physical and subject to armor reduc and will usualy be lower. )
(note #2 sp= spell power so if you have 320 sp on your ele 16.24 *320 = 5196 damage meaning if you praise the sun and rng-sus loves you that's roughly the burst you can expect. )

The interesting part of being an elemental is Lava Burst is a guaranteed critical hit. And if you have flame shock on the target, your Lava Burst does even more damage. Why do you think I am constantly touting the effects of dispelling people?
As a long time resto/elemental shaman player, quite literally since Vanilla, I can tell you with certainty that spell casting shamans are one of the most balanced classes in all of WoW.
For instance, how many times has those two specs been been buffed/nerfed since WoD?

elemental is really not that great at 39. i've played ele since vanilla and I still would be if blizz didn't basically make ele non existent for lower levels.

while their lava burst is weaker they can still burst for more than a rshaman with fulmination being a 400% sp nuke . outside of that resto may do more lava burst damage but I wouldn't rule out ele entirely as they do more standard dps because of no cd on chain lightning and the .5sec + 70% lb damage increase equating to a 113% damage increase vs the 100% resto damage.

Its lava bust hits for about 360-420 less

rest is do u want 40% heals or a 400% sp nuke and a ts ? Imo Ele definitely has a place in 39s
