How active is the level 49 Bracket?

Over the course of playing many different types of bracket; I've never really tried out the level 40 - 49 bracket. Is it possible to gain a little bit of information about the bracket as a whole? I'm curious about trying it however I don't really want it to be a wasted opportunity.
