HK's and skill positive correlation?

Correlation yes

I agree there is definitely a correlation.

As with any correlation there's almost always exceptions. You should also note that HKs counts can vary with classes. so the Correlation will be much more pronounced if say you see a healing priest with over 10k HKs. Also A good FC is NOT going to be around the majority of the HK action. An FC's HK count will most likely be around 1/3 of say a Killer Hunter or Rogue. This topic has given me an idea for a new thread. Behind every 10k+ HK twink, most of the time there's a story.

Very often lot o' hk's = Experience of some sort. Skills? not soo much :)

It's so hard to determain if a twink is good or not only by looking at lifetime kills;/

Know some examples of "unskilled" peeps with a hell lot of lifetime kills.. and also a lot with low lifetime kills and yet awesome playstyle.

In arena it is easy to see "skills" but in wsg u can come across some moves that are not seen in arena.. Example: look at the Painaid's video of the wsg jumps... fakejumping perfect etc is often seen and it allways looks awesome imo, giving me an idea of the player know something about the game^^

Movement and placement has everything to do with Arenas...

Fake jumps, jukes, even precision jumps all have their place in a good player's repertoire. WSG jumps are just silly.

btw no correlation!

Arenas are totally different than WSG. I'd even venture to say I would gear differently if I had a focus for Arenas. Experience often does equate to skill. Again this opinion but all were saying is that there is a correlation, not exceptions. Correlation = could mean 50%+ of the time is true. Also correlation does not imply causation. ie 10k kills gave them skill.

I would rather have someone on my team in WSG that knows where to be at key moments in the battle rather than someone who chases HKs or happens to be good at duels. Classes at this level are not evenly balanced at the 19 level for arenas. Then again, in my opinion, they aren't at 80 either :)

no way. this guy [char=Trollbane]Ribai[/char] is one of the worst PVPers i've ever seen, and he's got 95k kills atm. on my old server i facerolled him with my disc priest.

Only one you need is:

D) commited.

Go look up Maletc - Al'akir EU.

He's a russian non-fully geared warlock that doesn't do much all day but grind WSG. The guy is fucking awsome rofl, and he hardly speaks a word of english. DEDICATION BABY! :p

exceptions

good or not good these guys would still be exceptions. For every non-skilled 10k+ HK twink there's probably 10 that ARE skilled.

For every non-skilled 10k+ HK twink there's probably 10 that ARE skilled.

For every non-skilled twink who eats peanuts there's probably 10 who ARE skilled and eat peanuts.

Stop hating on the peanut eaters!

I am attempting to initiate a discussion about what you can tell from a twink by looking at their HK's. There are exceptions to everything but I find people with over 10K HK's are

A) skilled

B) experienced

C) fully geared

D) committed

E) mature

Of course, you could have a skilled player (that most likely has another toon with 10K HK's) make a new 19 and be fully geared but no HK's. You could also have someone with several twinks with HK's that add up 10K. Finally you can have someone with a fully geared twink that just doesn't play, or only plays in premades.

For the person that says HK's does not equal skill

Wouldn't the inverse of this be harder to find? That is, someone with more than 10K HK's that is not skilled and not geared. Which almost validates the initial arguement that HK's correlates positively with skill.

You can also look at the extreme senarios:

someone with 50-100HK's (skilled or unskilled, committed, experienced, mature?)

on my original rogue twink i was a terrible clicker, he has more than 10k hks.

Obviously you don't Arena much. Arena is all about precision and coordination - there's no 'random chasing' and Dueling, while a great way to sharpen your reflexes and decision-making skills, is outshined by the need for team tactics and understanding. A lot of people hide away from Arenas behind the excuse that it's pointless and doesn't teach you anything. That's what a bad would say imo!

Obviously there are key skills and a broad knowledge set needed to excel in WSG, but having Super-High HKs are not the way to prove you know what you're doing. I think the players with the most HKS are either 1.) mindless, lifeless junkies who live for PuGs or 2.) those who DO play for stupid HK-chasing - just like you said you would not want.

19 Arena is surprisingly balanced. Of course there are comps that can completely shut down other comps, but there is an impressive balance of power. In duels, Shamans are overpowered (followed by Hunters) but in real Arena play every class has their role to be fulfilled.

Now...PREMADES are a completely different story. The coordination and communication needed for those are wonderful. But you cannot even try to compare the premade experience to PuGs. Like I said earlier, if anything PuGs will actually dull your senses and make very sloppy, un-honed players. Think of all the horrible masses of twink guilds who are a tossed-together group of the "top pug twinks" of whatever realm (i've seen so many of these...) Seeing them try to premade makes me weep. It's a completely different game.

So fine, there's my Wall. more to come if people keep being stupid.
