MF Doom, Brother Ali, Atmosphere/Slug, Immortal Technique, Prolyphic and Reanimator, Eyedea and Abilities, J Dilla, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, etc. I could go on but I'm lazy.

In terms of more mainstream, commercially successful rappers with substance and quality, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco strike me as a few heads above Odd Future. I don't mean to say Odd Future isn't talented, but coming at us like you're some connoisseur of all things quality hip hop because you like them is a silly move.

Sage francis makes garbage frat boy music though, lol. I never compared them to underground artists, so the arbitrary listing you've decided to make is meh.

Talib kwelis most recent mainstream solo release was "Listen" off eardrum. That was 2007 dog...Mos def? He's "known" to an extent, but check his music on the billboards...Not even charting it half the time. Lupe fiasco, yeah... F&L 2 should be amazing, since his most recent album wasn't up to his standards. and the mixtape was even worse.

Odd future is just a group I promote because they're in that group of artists that are bringing creativity back into rap.
