Herbalism?

I have made several twinks, but i gave them all Engineering/Mining, as this was the easiest to obtain. Should I switch out mining for herbalism on all/some of my toons? I am hoping that I can get some fishing hats for these characters, so that I may be able to drop engineering for another gathering skill. Also, I pug 95% of the time as twinking is pretty scarce on my server.

*Edited to add character links*

if/when you get the hats on all your characters:

hunter: skinning/herb

priest: mining/herb

druid: (its an fc druid i assume) mining/herb

this is all, in my opinion, the best profs for the twinks you linked

Personally, I've been doing Engineering/Herbalism on my twinks, using the engineering goggles until I got the lucky fishing hat. Then once I got the hat I dropped engineering and picked up skinning on my hunter and mining on my druid.

First off, yes, every twink should have Herbalism. Giving it up for mining or skinning is akin to taking 7stam or 7agi on boots rather than run speed. You're giving up a lot of actual power just to have your armory stats look a little bit better.

Secondly, don't dismiss Engineering as a profession on a twink that stacks Spell Power. The heal provided by [ITEM]Minor Recombobulator[/ITEM] will scale with spell power and you can use it on yourself or teammates. I still have Engineering on my Shaman because of this. It's like his Nature's Shiftness. Now, I'd use AGM and the PvP trinket rather than the recombobulator if I had the AGM, but I don't. I would say hold on to Engineering until you get both the hat and the AGM.

This is what i did with my lock, used engineering goggles until i got a fishing hat, then dropped it for mining. And to answer your original question, lifeblood is too powerful to not have. I've found 2 effective ways to lvl it (assuming uve already gotten up to like 150 on ur own, which is pretty easy):

1 - Get a friend (or pay someone) with a chopper or any other multi-person mount and just ride around in it, dropping party whenever you see an herb so that your friend can clear our the area

2 - Get a friend's high lvl and follow the friend around stranglethorn vale OUT OF PARTY, letting him know where he needs to clear to get herbs. Personally I dual boxed with my friend's mage, it was pretty easy I just walked around and looked over at my lock's screen to see where the herbs were at.

Getting way too complicated with multiple people or accounts. Get your twink in the water off the coast of Gurubashi. The Raptors there will not persue into the water. Log over to your level 80 and go on a killing spree, pop CDs, whatever, kill fast. Log over to your twink, enter the cleared area, herb. Rinse and repeat with other areas of the coast that you have already discovered. With an 80, you can kill a fairly large area fast enough that your twink can run in before any respawns.

Or just do the skinning/herbalism thing where you pile 5 skinnable mobs around a liferoot in wetlands and skin, skin, skin, skin, skin, pick, repeat without looting the skins or herb. As long as you select to skin from inside of your spellbook instead of rightclicking, it will let you skin again. And the list of skinned/picked items that blizz uses to remember what you already skinned or picked and keep you from releveling off of it apparently only holds five items. So you can level from 150-225 on one liferoot, as long as you keep a high lev around to kill the occasional respawn. Works with other herbs too. I always start every twink with skinning and hebalism, and then maybe drop skinning to take engineering or mining.

that would take atleast twice as long, because theres no guarantee that the area u cleared out wouth even have any herbs. Plus even if you missed one mob your 19 would get ownd. I guess your idea works if you dont have friends >.> lol

Herb nodes don't move all that much (this is why people have farming routes), I don't miss mobs, and my friends have limits :(

I don't know, I found it very easy and I didn't have to have a second account or bug a friend. You can get well over 200 in Stonetalon (which all of my twinks discovered for the Engineer Cloak quest), so you really only have to do it for a few skillups. Goes pretty fast.

Except for my Tauren...I will never roll another Tauren twink. 240 Herbalism FTL.

Thanks everyone for all your help. It looks like my friends and I are going to have a lot of fun getting my herb skill up on em all.

I made a new warrior on Tich about a week ago. I got to 10, farmed copper, sold it, bought runs in VC, picked up wool and linen, sold them, bought gear, resold, made about 1000g, got runs for all my other gear. Then solo did 225 Herbing and Skinning @ 19. Im geared out minus the Fishing Hat and AGM. Dropped Skinning and am now smelting my way to 225 Mining for extra HP.

Doing it all yourself can be done, even without a DK, it just takes a bit of dedication.

Here is the armory..

Edit, this was done on in my opinion the most hardcore pvp server in the game (from my research). I was ganked a total of about 5 times.

That's a good point about the Minor Rec. It doesn't share a CD with anything so you could literally pop Lifeblood (720), AGM (1200ish), healing pot (400), Minor Rec. (300?), pallys can pop LoH (1700ish). If my calc are correct that is like 6020 damage needed to take you down.

AGM + Lifeblood (Rank 3) + Healing Potion + Minor Recombobulator + Lay on Hands + Charged Crystal Focus

1250 + 720 + 360 + 350 + 1500 + 2000.

Assuming 1500 HP, 100 SP, and maxed heals from Pot and AGM, that's about 7680 damage, which would mean if your opponent doesn't have 500 DPS with him you're not going down for at least 15 seconds. Now imagine 2 pallies running alongside each other with a priest following behind (FC Situation).
