Help twinking

I used to twink pretty hard back in the day before the XP shut off. Can somebody explain how it works now adays, because I heard if you turn your xp off you get put in your own bracket.

If that’s the case, what server and what bracket is the most popular, im really trying to get back into it just need some guidance.

I would like to stay on retail not the classic servers!

Speculation is that current enchants that cannot be placed on items higher than ilvl 50 will be grandfathered, since there's been no update to the proffesion to match the new higher item scaling on the beta/ptr. So you'd be behind that....

But yeah, not the end of the world. And not guaranteed to be happening, or staying that way forever if it does.

edit- blizz is SO far behind on the next patch on the PTR it's downright embarrassing and that's saying an awful lot given it's blizz.
