I am trying to mine Felslate for Shadowruby Band. as a f2p without help from high levels. Wondering anyone knows of a efficient way of doing it. After 2 days, i still get less than 100. There must be something terrible wrong with my mining strategies. Before i surrender and give up, i want figure out what are the problems.

According to this guide:https://xpoff.com/threads/f2p-guide...native-way-of-obtaining-chaos-crystals.96317/

The numbers will increase drastically as you upgrade your mining techniques (via random quests and items you get from mining in Legion) and memorize routes in the zones that you will be farming in. By the end of my personal ring farming, I was able to craft 2 rings in 4-6 hours.

However, i am far from being able to craft even 1 ring in 2 days. According to this

Suramar (lvl45 zone) is the best zone for leveling legion mining. But I am f2p without any help from high levels, so leveling here is very difficult.

Is there anyone actual tried to craft Shadowruby Band successfully, how did u do it?

There's a hyperspawn Infernal whose corpse you can mine at Illidari Stand, Azuna.

That's where I farmed my Felslate.

My question is: Why? To eventually DE it for mats, or to level you JC?
The latter is going to eventually stall you once you end up needing https://www.wowhead.com/item=124444/infernal-brimstone which you can only get from the WQ. The former is not easy, but it is very doable as a F2P. Just join a world farm group & hope for Purps.

the Suramar quests can be reached pretty easily. Completing them tho... can be a tall order; & if I recall, some of them are impossible to accomplish as they're in dungeons 20's cannot access.

Just to DE it for Chaos Crystals. I've the impression that farming boe is much slower then crafting ShadowRuby band, but i may consider it if required.

What kind of character are you playing? The good news is that the quests to unlock the ability to learn higher ranks of felslate are both available and generally trivial. Once you unlock the central suramar FP (I think you gravitate to the graveyard there if you die in the zone) it's just a quick jog up a hill that normally doesn't have any hostile mobs.

The bad news is that the quest she gives you requires going into darkheart thicket, which means either soloing it or hoping some nice person will help you out. After that rank 2 quests just require walking up to the same npc for quest turn ins. Rank 3 is a pain requiring you to kill quest mobs in suramar (the quest mobs are level appropriate but none of the mobs on the way there are), but rank 3 quest drops are already fairly rare and besides you should be getting decent numbers of bloods from your rank 2 mining skills to buy more felslate from the blood trader npc. Still grindy, but should take some of the edge off of it.

A slow but F2P way to get possible more Felslate or other JC mats, is a Legion invasion (and try for the dungeons as the last boss can give rep with that zone's faction) in either Azsuna or Stormheim after doing all the quest chains to gain more reputation for Boon of the Salvager - Revered with Valarjar which has a chance to drop a bag with Legion ore or Boon of the Gemfinder - Revered with Court of Farondis which has a chance to drop a bag with Legion gems. Yeah its a slow process as the reputation is low for a level 20 as we can not do the higher level world quests. Plus these Boom's aren't cheap.

Azsuna is definitely the better area with re-spawning Infernal Brutalizer mobs at Illidari Stand that can be mined for junk, Living Felslate Sample, Ore-Choked Heart and ore.

Also if one gets gathering to Rank 2, the chance that Blood of Sargeras can drop which can be used via the Blood Trader for ore ~ 5x felsalte per Blood of Sargeras.

I'm now rank 2 in "Mining Technique: Living Leystone " and "Mining Technique: Living Felslate", and Level50 in Legion Mining. My plan, as suggested above, is to kill the Infernal mobs and mine from them only. But i notice that my Legion Mining level doesn't go up anymore with mining mobs. Seems that the only way to level up my current level is to actually mine Leystone/Felslate Seams. But finding seams, especially Felslate seams is slow and painful. So, I want to keep mining the Infernal mobs only.

So my question is, what good is having higher legion mining level? Does it affect my yields? I notice that the Infernals mobs drop 1 felslate ore 1/3 of the time regardless of my mining level. If my concern is the amount of felslate/leystone i can gather, does mining level affects me?

Nope, mining level doesn’t do anything. Legion professions be silly.
