Heirloom legs

Fuck! Does this mean I have to join pretty much ANY level 25 fucking guild.. Lmfao...

Half of them have the achievement for 525 anyway, 600 is baby shit and will only take a few weeks in any decent sized guild.

can't we just get it on our mains? and then mail?

Does it require exalted?

No...it only requires Honored. This will be easier to get than a lot of you people are making it out to be. Still, I hate that BoA's are better than Blues in nearly every case. I know there's a lot of talk about the role of BoA's but I think they should be to boost you in lvling and not the best stats at every lvl range. Anyways, I digress.

It's really a matter of adapt or die.

I get that. My gripe is more at the purpose of BoA's that Blizz has settled on. I like BoA's for lvling but it takes some of the fun out of twinking imo ("Let me just send my gear over to my lvl 19 I just leveled and he'll be a twink").

P.S. I like the avatar switch. :)

Great, another advantage for those against the F2P or new players.

Good thing I do not pay for this game.

On one hand, I agree with you. On the other hand, I (and I presume others) am just so jaded over the gearing process after making so many twinks through the years. They are definitely a bit out of sync with other items at low levels, but the net result with or without BoA's in exp-off BG's is pretty much going to be the same either way.

That makes sense. But I do not like that for new twinks it could make the entry to twinking harder. For instance, I just started a new account. For me as a fresh account it takes significantly more effort to get all BoAs than if I just join a guild and get help gearing, etc. I realize it could go both ways but I think that BoAs should be in line with green items vs. better than blue items. That way they allow a boost in leveling w/o the necessity to stay competitive in twinking.

The other negative as mentioned above is that this will widen the gap even farther between 24s and f2p 20s. I've gone back and forth about my view on the disparity between the 2 but this could cause further frustration amongst the f2p'ers.

Anyways, at least the good thing with these legs is that they shouldn't be too hard to get. I bet it'll take most 25 guilds a few days to get the achievement to unlock the BoA legs. So if you're not currently on a 25 guild with an honored reputation you'll want to get on one right around the launch of MoP to obtain them as soon as possible.

They do create a larger barrier to twinking, and it is probably counter-intuitive to say this in regards to bringing fresh blood in to the twinking brackets, but a lot of these people really need to experience the game to a fuller extent to avoid being a liability to the team. Even then, specifically in regards to the 19s bracket, other barriers existed back in BC. There was a great reliance on both pieces of fishing gear, plus an epic armor kit and libram. There have always been barriers to twinking - I don't feel that BoA's are terribly different.

I can not comment on the 20-24 bracket given my total inexperience in it, but from what I've heard, WSG is already a slaughter fest even without more BoA's.

Nice, that guild achievement will be very easy to complete for us (Waw Tawent).

Looking forward to when it comes out.

in BC there were no barriers, just a matter of gold and getting help. these days, there is nothing anyone in a guild can do to help you get a player with a account full of 19's BOA helms and cloaks and soon leggings
- 59 twinks in our guild did the libram requirements, you could pay someone 100g to finish the libram for you if they have done the quest lines.
- fishing hat and boots, i started getting mine at level 10
- stam/agi leg armor kits were around 240-350g on my server

i started in 2007 a few months after BC came out, gold was easy as it is now, i didn't have a player over 39 and had around 21000+ gold.
-mining
-herbing
- fishing deviate fish (gold maker back then...still is now)
- darkmoon faire (gold maker back then...still is now)

i'm still on a BC account, blzzard imo, in CATA actually removed alot of barriers in getting BOAs on low levels, and with a 70 in good guild, i have obtained helms/cloaks when rep required to purchase them was revered. my 70 just did the quests i never did in outland and 25 dailies a day till i had rep.

the new BOA leggings will not be hard to get as long as you are in a large guild and have high levels focused.

I've discussed this elsewhere. The real issue isn't that 'BoAs are too good,' it's that Blizzard has not taken the initiative to update all non BoA gear rewards prior to level 60. So when the average player comes across a blue or green item from a dungeon or a quest (especially caster weapons or ranged weapons), most of the time it's complete garbage in comparison to BoAs.

BoA gear is made top-down by taking a piece of gear itemized for the level cap, and scaling those stats down through the levels. So when you're looking at those items, they have all the stats a character would want for that class/spec. Non BoA items traditionally don't have all those stats. They mostly have 1-2 stats and low values for them (at this point, anyway).

So the solution from my perspective would be to update all those items. This involves those of us who have Beta access to leave feedback on the forums suggesting as much. Now, the important thing to notice, is that the BoA legs have ridiculous stats on them right now.

Example:

Tattered Dreadmist Leggings - Item - World of Warcraft

Cloth legs with 30 stam, 20 int, 13 crit, and 13 haste rating @ 19? Can you think of anything else remotely close? Yeah, they still need to do a pass over all these low level items and make sure the stats are roughly equivalent.

We need to keep reminding them until it happens.
