EU+US Heads up March 21-24, free play weekend...

If you're even considering "risking it" because you're standing in an already discovered area, or don't plan to PvP/PvE or anything that gives xp... don't!!!! The banked XP can and will level you up, and when the free weekend ends you will be locked out of your character forever unless you go p2p.

Give the game a break for the time being.

Forgive my incredulity... but I didn’t see anything in the event description to suggest that it applies to trial accounts. Obviously, nobody should risk their F2P characters before testing it... but it doesn’t appear to be a “Free Play” weekend, just a “Welcome Back” weekend.

Is there a reason to believe this event isn’t just veteran-only, or are you all simply voicing appropriate caution?
 
So, wouldn't the best thing to do is to level alts that are below 20 and use this as an excuse to do such?

Also, this should mean (Assuming it applies to us) we get the chance to get stuff that requires more than 10g, etc.

Well, yes. But that's only when you go on the actual character, right?

So I don't go on my 20s. I go on alts and level them. Zero risk.

I'd presume on log in of character.

When I upgraded my other F2P, it only dinged characters after I had logged into them.
 
Will i be able to trade with a brand new F2p account during the free weekend? So i can give it enchants and lvl engineering?
 
It makes sense that starter accounts be excluded, so no... in that case. Really it's all about a heads up just in case.

edit- I mean.... blizz has been SO shitty and devious lately, I wouldn't put it past them. Give a "free" weekend that locks you out of your free toon when it's over? "We're sorry, you'll just have to purchase a subscription to play that now..."

Everything you worked for gone? Unless you pony up $$$? Sounds a lot like Actiblizzion tactics to me.
 
Unlikely f2p will be effected due to potential trade chat spamming by bots 24 7 but stay frosty.

If this is the case, wouldn't you be able to log in (to the account not any character yet) and make a demon hunter or DK to test it out and log in to confirm if you're on trial status?

You sure would.

DH require a level 70+. But, yes.

And it opens up a lot of achievement farming and what not. Though the debate if that is "pure f2p" or not is debatable. That being said, I considered my original F2P account pure and I did achievements on a Death Knight I made.

Pretty devilish of Blizzard to do right after the split.

The game is always “free” if you use tokens purchased by gold.
