First of all, there is never enough gold out there, you can always make more. The moment you are content with the gold you have is the moment where you go downhill.
Gold making strategies vary greatly. So do WoW players, some are bottom-feeders in the AH, undercutting their opponents and selling the materials they've farmed, there are those who control a specific niche of items and make a tidy, consistent profit, and then there are those that dabble in every niche at the same time( these usually loose out. )
Here's a list of the methods to gain gold :
Gathering Professions: This is a good way to earn a starting capital, especially with new expansions as the prices for every mat rise, especially for the newly introduced once, people believe this to be a no loss method to gain gold, since there is no risk to loose any gold. Most don't even consider time as a resource, and as the wise say, time is money.
-6/10 ( This strategy is mainly used to gather starting gold for playing on the AH, further than that it can also be used as an extra income and a buffer for risk for new AH players.
A useful addon to have :
Gatherer - Addons - Curse
Crafting Professions: These are very hard to evaluate, skilling up may be a waste of gold if by the time you reach maximum level the items are already cheap. These should be skilled to max level just before an expansion due to two facts: The cheapness of materials before an expansion and because new expansion items will sell very fast in the first few weeks or sometimes even months.
-7/10
A useful addon to have :
Advanced Trade Skill Window - Addons - Curse
Farming specific items/mats: Very profitable, very time consuming it has it's pros and cons but generally, the more rare the item the more time you'll waste on it. It may be useful to an extent but generally the mats/items that drop frequently such as runecloth/netherweave etc.. will be farmed by a lot of people and their price will be low, therefore mostly the time/gold ratio is too low for this to be viable.
-4/10
A useful addon to have :
Atlasloot Enhanced - Addons - Curse
Playing the AH:
This bit is probably one of the hardest to grasp, most see it as buy high sell low and don't see the problems such as common undercutting, overflooding the market and loosing control of a niche.
This guide is just at starting point, and will be increased in size ( no time right now )
Post anything relevant to the guide.
