General Consensus on MW gear

What is the general consensus on how to gear a MW monk for max effectiveness?

I see some people like to go full class cannon with blackwidow band, goggles extreme plus, and full fang set, with all int/spell power chants... int floating at around 280+... and then 1700 or less hp.

Then there are those that go the more 2 piece fang and then full survivalbility gear, stam+vers with Int a secondary floating at around 210+

What do you think, is glass cannon only for 5 man groups where you know you are not going to get rogue-smoked and just going to for top heals while your team farms a yard? Or does it even matter and max int is just better in the long run?

Depends on what you are currently doing, that should be the defining factor of your gear choices. Here is how i would/do go about it:

    1. IF you are doing pug BG's with a 5man
    a. Playing into another premade, depends on how good your team is whether you think they will peel, then int, if they wont, surv set is better.
    b. Pugstomping is just your lifestyle choice, probably doesn't matter, int stack because you wanna go fistweaver anyway.
    2. IF you are solo queing, typically you want to play surv set.
    3. IF you are doing 10v10 wargames, typically you would want max int gear because if positioning serves you well, you should be okay even if a rogue jumps you.
    4. IF you are doing arenas, you will need to go nearly max survival gear because its nearly impossible to live without it.

This is how i see it, but i typically stay in the set for what i want to play... which is Arenas and/or 10v10 wargames, which i hope we can start getting this kind of stuff going.

Was looking at your monk... do you stack that much haste for a specific reason... as opposed to other gear with more stam/vers like master e goggle, etc.

I'm actually missing a couple of pieces, as in Green Lens of Aurora, ilvl 34 Shoulders, missing neck enchant, obviously need a new ring, and ilvl 34 OH as well... This character isn't finished at all.

Also, you mention master E. Goggles, i DON'T believe any healer should ever use them as they lose too many stats for it. But you don't have to listen to me obviously.

This is relevant to both 20 and 29 imo, but I've found more success doing 1.9-2k hp > int > vers > crit. Haste I feel isn't effective enough at this level for MW, and MW really thrives in its ability to do damage. It's comparable to resto sham forsure, but the con is that most abilities are melee range.

For a quick explanation of crit, I just think it's more effective because think of it like this. You get x3 stacks of teachings of the monastery, making blackout kick do damage 4 times, in my experience when at least 2/4 of those crit, then that's almost 900 damage in 2 seconds. This does not count damage from Rising Sun resetting on chance.

Full fang is too good to pass up, however at 29 I feel as though BWB is kinda lackluster in comparison to your other choices (bg crate ring/advisors or loremaster ring/boe green ring). Green Lens of X (I prefer quickblade) is also, in my opinion, way more worth it than the pure int helm. It's also interesting to note that you should swap weapon enchants (ele force or coastal surge or even pure spellpower) depending on what you're spending more of your time doing.

Also what Sail said, a lot of it depends on your group setup. Are you in a 5 man and just stomping people? Then sure, full glass cannon would be a better idea. But if you're actually going against a competitive makeup, I would 100% go for more secondaries and stam (until ~2k hp) than full int.

    Fang set
    Zealot blade
Aurora suffix on gear that ain't fang gear
Should do fine running by these rules
