EU Gear vs Community?

I am making a twink on Horde and basically have a choice between basing the char in either a realm where I have money to fund it or a realm where there seems to be quite a few twinks and twink guilds (e.g. Stormscale or something).

The queue times shouldn't depend on the server, therefore the best (short-term) solution would be to choose the realm where I can easily get twink stuff and have funds for it.

However, if I choose a twink realm, it will take me a long time to gear up, but in the long-run I might join a twink guild which will expose me to more ppl to group and queue with, which would result in faster pops (rather than queueing alone).

Such is the dilemma. Opinions?

All depends on your definition of "long". It really does not take that "long" to gear a viable toon for Battlegrounds currently at level 19.

Well, it will take atleast a couple of weeks/a month to fully gear a toon with bg gear. And if i want to get enough gold to buy the neck/rings/offhand/legs (for a mage) that will take even longer to gather since starting from scratch.

Getting a full gear set with ilevel 24 boe's is just fine, really And getting the neck and rings is like 200g or something.

Necks, rings and off hand can be purchased from vendor for a minimum amount of gold. Legs are crafted. Any instance satchel belt will do.
As long as you have gear slots filled, gear makes a minimum difference in instanced PvP at low levels. Having "BiS" only serves to inflate the player's ego, unless the player intend to PvE or do world PvP.
Sure, that extra 2-3 stamina could help you in a battleground someday. But, it should not be making your decisions for you now. Especially when you could be enjoying the game.

When you combine the offhand (very hard to reach) and paying someone to crafts the legs, it adds up to quite a significant amount. But yes, I get general gesture

The things you call expensive or hard to reach really aren't that bad :\
If you don't have any money, try leveling herbalism/mining and sell the mats on the Auction House. You'll get your hands on the item you need very quickly

Go for community.

Even with the high item level gear you only see a slight difference of around 1-2 stam in bgs.
