Flask Of Pure Death / Flask of Blinding Light super OP?

Has anyone tried https://www.wowhead.com/item=22866/flask-of-pure-death or https://www.wowhead.com/item=22861/flask-of-blinding-light lately?

I'm wondering if each school has been changed to just be spellpower and the effect would be multiplied by 3. Thus giving 147 spellpower. Anyone try this?

It does not increase spellpower at all according to my character sheet. But it definitely increased the damage of my spells. Solar Wrath went from doing 480 damage unbuffed to 508 with the flask. Compared to a https://www.wowhead.com/item=58084/ghost-elixir which increased my damage to 503 from 480.

So it looks like school specific spell damage is still a thing. There's just no way to see it in your character sheet or any add-on AFAIK. I use DejaCharacterStats.

I'd say for casters https://www.wowhead.com/item=13511/flask-of-distilled-wisdom is probably the best elixir/flask buff for raw damage between levels 50 and 100. Better than https://www.wowhead.com/item=13512/flask-of-supreme-power since that doesn't benefit from the mage buff (10% increased int) or the oranges in Tanaan Jungle (5% increase to all stats stacking with mage buff).

But of course https://www.wowhead.com/item=13468/black-lotus is extremely hard to come by. So https://www.wowhead.com/item=46376/flask-of-the-frost-wyrm is a good alternative.

what level character are you using these flask/elx on ? they seem to be for different lvl group

i use only Supreme Power for my 59 and 69 disc priests, Binding Light and Pure Death doesnt have effect on certain spells/ability on the character .. i always go for the higher stats flask that i can find.

one thing to note, these flask has very high proc rates .. on my record i get 25% or more flasks everytime, but i make them in a few hundreds each time.

My 89 balance druid.

Funny thing is flask of distilled wisdom is better than anything else for casters until level 100.
 
yeah right .. i just check, after the lvl changes , even the flasks are screwed now .. the MOP and Cata flask all gives lower values .. does intel spellpower still has a 1:1 ratio ? if it has, why not use 56 Supreme instead of the 53 Wisdom?

looks like i have to increase my Black Lotus stock

53 intellect is better than 56 spellpower because of the 10% intellect mage buff. It increases intellect, not spellpower. That means with the buff 53 intellect becomes 58.

For level 70+ with draenor flying, you can also eat the Tanaan Jungle fruit which gives 5% all stats and stacks with the int buff. With that and the mage buff 53 intellect becomes 61 intellect (rounded up).
