feral druids at 39

are they competetive, I know not equal to rogues. but do they do decent dps and burst?

or are they doomed to be the ultimate FC.

I'd like to do some pounce shred destruction. :D

and if they aren't good, why not? what numbers do they do? FB and shred

They're not that good, nor do they seem like ultimate fc's anymore :/ They seem way more squishy nowadays

Main reason is lack of cc. A healer will just shrug off your damage.

They are fun though, so if you're intent on making one, go for it, if you're skilled you can make it work. Just like virtually any class at 39's.

Yea...pretty much you gotta anticipate like crazy and time your shifts into bear for feral charge interrupts and bashes. You gotta work twice as hard for the same results. But for some, I guess thats part of the fun I suppose.

it turned out to be not my playstyle atm, but it can work. the dmg is not that bad, but it relys alot on positioning and not being in 1vX situations.

the FC potential is high, but youll have to drink before goin to FC, something a mix/resto FC wont have to do in most cases.

i choosed to go balance for the moment, but feral was a lot of fun too + it has more tools to control the fight. it is viable as anything else in 39, but it is not the spec that benefits the most in 39. that would be resto.

Nah... I raid alot like 4 times a week ( 10 mans on weekends )

Twinks are my faceroll time :) gonna go with my hunter I think

PS: ty for the help

I've got a bunch of 39's including 2 feral druids and a hunter...definitely go with the hunter for facerolling :) Though nothing beats a lock in terms of facerolling ownage

twink is facerolling time? dude, you are not my target for real help.

but if you can stand bein squishy, try balance druid with a dot build. facerolling teams + FC is quite easy if you are not facing a good priest or a team of rogs focusing you.

but stick to the hunter...its not faceroll at all, but in a low skill battlegroup you can pwn with it.

I haven't seen a feral druid yet that can compete like other classes at 39.

I can only assume it's due to lack of viable weapons and a challenging play style. Now if something was changed like feral would be able to gain ap based on weapon damage like they can at 60+ may change some things.

You wanna easy face roll make a lock/rogue/ret pally all seem to be pretty tough atm.

druids were nerfed in 39, maim was removed . yet other classes gained higher level spells/DPS. me and my two friends have feral druids, after WOTLK we noticed in the BG they are squishy, we were like WTF!!! in some BGS. even in bear form, palidans drop them like candy due to Blizz's over zealous love for the palidan. warlocks hit their dots and siphon life, they gain health faster that a feral druid can DPS...your dead. try to pop and heal and you die even faster.

you will run OOM trying to get to a hunter, no way to lock them down and no crippling type poison affect till higher brackets

with fairee fire and once having maim, cat druids could give rogues a run for their money.....no more....gone. the feral cat charge from stealth is sorta like a rogues shadowstep....IMO not really that great

if your doing premades they can workout, but PUGS, like anything else, luck of the draw. we used to use our ferals as FC's in WSG.....seems like they are too weak for that too now

I'm not going to fight what these people are saying...because feral druids certainly aren't that strong in the bracket. However, my 39 feral druid is my favorite character. He's more fun to play than any other character I have.

There are very few specs, which when played up to your level, won't kill your druid in a 1v1. However, druids are versatile and can capitalize on mistakes very well. If you're better than your opponent, you can beat him--I say this about every class except warlocks and possibly paladins. You would have to be SO much better than a paladin to beat him. And you could be playing against a fruitcake...if he were playing on a warlock, he would win. That said, there arent many classes out there from which you can't escape. What does that mean? fight as part of a skirmish...and you can make a HUGE difference. And leave disadvantageous 1v1's.

Feral druids used to have really good burst, actually. When 1/18/11 was the spec to be...or when the shred glyph was still burst oriented, you could pump out enough burst to put other classes in defensive mode. Now...you have to play strategically every time. In BG's, you have about 50-60% of a rogue's DPS ability...but you should have about 1/2 to 2/3 of your DPS numbers in healing as well.

This is from my experience...and sorry for the brick wall of text.

i have seen a skilled feral druid in action, and it can be very effective.

people underestimate the ability to stealth and then put out a good portion of burst and then switch to bear + use feral charge as an interrupt. then you have bash, and once that lands you can switch to cat and keep up fair DPS while moving at 30% speed and having practically immunity to slows and poly. as a flag carrier i find this to be incredibly annoying.

they are decent utility players as well because they have roots, fairy fire, moonfire, and heals. certainly not as good of utility as some other classes but it's still not bad.

the bad part about feral druids is that they do have a lack of CC when compared to rogues and they aren't great at being able to put out high, consistant damage. the best part about them is their ability to stay on targets while having a good amount of survivability.

it definately takes a lot of work, but a feral druid if played properly can be effective.

druid>hunter at 39 IMO

my lock doesn't have any prob with hunters at 39 anymore.

feral druid is not as viable, but for burst DPS balance is king. If you specc crit(which no one does) you will really really kill. all the 39s ive played only a crit balance druid or mage can easily burn down a fully twinked lock fast enough. You will be OOM all the time tho. and be squishy. let me know if you wan tto know what my balance set it.

now the problem is druids are such good healers you will end up speccing resto instead of balance even tho balance is stil uber fun.

for FC build you have to go resto for the instant heals and HoTs. Feral is alright if you have another resto druid to heal you and you run in cat form for extra healing recieved. still very good(best IMO) at 39 FC is resto druid. Balance druids just die fast when trying to FC.
