Feral druid questions

Legend
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a horde-side feral druid who has BiS gear? I've seen a lot of balance and resto examples, but not so much ferals. And I've read the level 19 druid guide, but level 20 offers a few more gear options. And I'm having trouble choosing between agility and crit. Which of those stats are more useful? Bands of Serra'kis or Black Wolf Bracers? Decisions, decisions.

Also does anyone have any general advice for WSG or AB as a feral? or video examples? I'm a little new to the class, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing role-wise. I make a bad flag carrier at the moment and my heals suck and I have no stuns, so what is the role of a feral druid? pure DPS and occasional rooting to help catch the efc? I dunno. These days horde loses so much in pugs I want to learn all I can to contribute to the team and improve, and hopefully that would help win future matches.

On a side note, I would just like to vent that winning 1 match a day out of 5+ is rather infuriating when trying to grind enough honor to buy a repurposed lava dredger lol. Pretty much the only time I'm in a winning game is when I see one of you guys from this forum on the team.

Anyway, sorry if that was a lot of questions and I appreciate your time. This seems like a cool community with lots of good info and players. I've rolled some toons on Aerie Peak in which to participate. :D

Agility is AP and crit, so agility all the way where possible. Get all gear and mix and match as suits your play style. Ferals stealth. They are most effective when no one knows they are there until it's too late. As for horde losing, if you can, try and group with people on your realm. You'd be surprised how much better people play when they work together.

Shfthappens has a clue about his class. His talentbuild and the playstyle i've seen is build around short fights, staying on the target. Keeping up to 100/100 energy is important when you have to spam "/cast !cat form" macro to remove the constant conc shots and the random frostmage slow aswell.

Mistakes to avoid.. stealth in good time, hunter's mark has 100 yard range.

HP doesn't matter for FC if they don't catch you. You'll be suprised how easy it is to fc alone as feral, use the speed.

Keep the battle map up (shift+m) all the time. Map-awareness is key.

Thanks for the shoutout ;) Tips?

WSG

-Get on the hunters/healers sitting in the back, even if you're not putting out constant kills(healers can be impossibly hard to kill as feral, you're basically waiting on a fer bite crit) its important to put the pressure on, if healers are healing themself, people are gonna die

-Running the flag, we're nowhere near as good as resto, but we still got game, use the cat form indoor speed to your advantage and be mindful you can powershift slows, but not roots

AB

-you're gonna want to be ninja capping flags, and just generally watching them because people are going to run all over the place to chase down one guy coming towards your flag. Next thing you know, "superrogueskillawesome" has assaulted the farm

-Once again, get on those healers and hunters

General

-Stay away from Pallys and Warriors if you can help it, they will, for the most part, demolish you

-a rogue with evasion means dead kitty, you're going to want a pair of hogger's trousers for bgs with lots of rogues and/or 24s, YOU WILL need the hit, otherwise run smelting pants

-If you find yourself casting roots a lot, you might want to wear the hogger's trousers full time, personal preference imo

-Serra'kis bracers all the way

-BiS before Lava dredger is Accursed Mace - Item - World of Warcraft afaik, Impaling Harpoon - Item - World of Warcraft is also good

As for talents, this is also a personal preference. Feral Swiftness is mandatory, the other points are sort of up to you. I go 3/3 furor and 1/2 infected wounds, personally, i powershift about 3 times for every hunter i fight. So if I do an AB and i 1v1 a hunter 10 times, i powershifted 30 times, without furor, i'd be dead most of those times.

With this build, you are the bane of a hunters existence, i would even go as far to say counter class.

You can also go 2/2 predatory strikes and 2/3 furor or 2/2 pred strikes, 1/3 furor and 1/2 infected wounds. I find these builds to be ineffective as opposed to what i run, but if you find yourself needing the heals/instant roots this can work well, but i wouldn't recommend it, you lose too much mobility.

Also, like it was said before if you can see hunters drops to stealth immediatly, I'm not super competitive in bgs so i do get kinda lax and get marked occasionally. Try to avoid it.

Gonna go grab my powershift macro real quick

Edit: while I was grabbing it, I realized you might not know what powershifting is :p, it refers to shifting into the same form you are in to clear slows and roots (doesn't clear roots anymore as feral D; ) with the main point being you don't lose speed or get caught in between forms and stunned while in caster form for example.

This is the macro i use:

#showtooltip

#show

/cast [stance:1] !Bear Form; [stance:4] !Travel form; [stance:3] !Cat Form

This macro will powershift you in every form, so you don't need multiple macros. If you're curious, I bind it to "v"

If you have more questions feel free to ask

Edit 2: If you'd like to watch some video, there are not many great examples out there, no lvl 20 gameplay at least to my knowledge.

Miirkat is really good, he's not reckful level good, but nobody is: http://www.youtube.com/user/Miir

Zybak is nowhere near as good, but somewhat entertaining: http://www.youtube.com/user/ZybakTV

Imo watch miirkat, he's the better of the two by far, not too many videos though

I'm finding the most enjoyment in running close support for a flag carrier. Even though restro is probably a better PvP spec due to the Root removal, 2/2 in Feral Swiftness lets you run stealth at 91% of normal running speed. ...which means you can stay close enough to the flag carrier all the way across the field while staying stealthed. you can Entagling Roots melee off of the flag runner, and give him thorns as well as pop a heal or two to get him further down the road. its where i'm finding my nitch anyways.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips and advice. That really clarifies some things for me. I'm not a total newbie to feral, I know enough to stealth before getting marked, and what powershifting means. It's just druids are so versatile and whatnot, I felt directionless role-wise in BGs. I like the going for the hunters plan. Since they tend to give a lot of people a hard time, that seems to be one of the more useful things to do, next to distracting the healers or being FC support. One of my favorite things to do at the moment is to guard our team's priest or sapped players when I know a rogue is likely to strike. There's something really satisfying about ambushing the ambusher, especially if you can catch em before they open.

Shft, I'm pretty sure I've been in at least one WSG with you before, I think I actually learned of the Serra'kis bands through inspecting you. :p Thanks for the vids, btw. They've inspired me to stick with feral rather than convert to resto.

Solv, I like your blog, I was reading it earlier today.

Also, what do you guys do about healing as a feral? Do you try to plow through opponents with minimal healing, or travel form away to try to heal or what? I've tried kiting before but I always oom before I can defeat my opponent. But I guess that just comes back to staying away from tough classes like pallys and warriors.

And do you guys think the Exceptional Stormshroud Shoulders are worth getting? Wasn't sure if I should sacrifice crit for resilience and a couple more points in stats and armor.

Oh and here's my druid in case anyone wanted to see:

Bohan's Armory

A work in progress. I'm still on a f2p account, she's only in a guild because I made her back in April before all the changes to trial accounts.

Disclaimer: My math usually proves to be crappy.

Stormshroud--i have them on my wishlist for my flag running set, but i think if you actually plan on killing anyone, there's better pieces.

How often should feral druids find themselves in bear form? I played a feral way back around BC, and I'd often switch to bear form to bash, charge, or to heal with frenzied regen. Seeing as how we have none of those at 20, is there really a purpose to be in bear form outside of FC?

I find myself never healing, and never using bear form. Anyone's dps is going to outpace your heals, they're soo weak. As for bear, I only use it when I'm holding the flag OR if a warrior gets on me and i think help is coming, they do way too much damage lol. Since we don't get feral charge or bash, theres really no point. Also, tricasual, you have sacrificed A TON of stats for 4% crit. at least 200 hit points and idk how much AP
