Ive been working on my 49 elemental shaman alot lately when i started talking to my friend about the weapon choices as hes making a 49 enhancement. We started discussing pros and cons of the two weapons. I started to really lose myself in the thought between the two. So i decided to come here and see what you all thought about it.

Please also keep in mind i kinda want the dagger for my enhancement set as to put beserking on it but i also dont know if that is any good either.

Some shamans live and die by BoED. I think it's a fine weapon as well.

Although Devout Aurastone Hammer would be the best in terms of spell power and stats for 49 elemental shamans. Can't go wrong with either one.

the answer is obvious.

if you are alliance, you don't have much choice but go with either BoA mace or princess dagger.

if you are horde, then use felbane+black magic

that way, you don't have to always flame shock to keep the rogues from restealthing, frostshock, rogue is slowed and BAM a free 1100 dmg dot that ticks for 15 seconds while you kite the rogue to death.

the proc chance is 50% btw, there is a 45 sec cool down.

if you do the math, 63 sp and/or other enchants might be better dps-wise but PVP is not standing there and spamming lightening bolt over and over. PVP is about being in control, it doesnt matter if you are elemental or restoration, you should get black magic on the felbane dagger.

Sorry i forgot the mention that BOA mace is outta the question atm because my 80 is on my other account and its gonna be a while before i level another 80.

It can be dispelled so take that into account.

black magic can NOT be dispelled, so take that into account. i'd rather have 63 Sp anyday tho since the DoT has a 45sec internal CD where it wont be good for d1ck, whereas 63 SP is always 63 SP. 3sec CD on flame/frost shock if talanted correctly....so flame, 3sec later frost. or better yet, flame the rogue, than root. then frost if needed. booyah.

People always say "switch out your weapon when black magic procs".

If I'm watching my buffs intently for black magic to proc, I'm probably not watching for something else.

Black magic seems viable but the cooldown is too long and if properly rotating between shocks it seems you should be able to keep rogues out of stealth. So right now it sounds like it still goes back to:

Proc VS +more sp

get both weapons imo, if not just for the status of owning a BoED.

felbane +63 sp is legit

BoED +40 spells is nice for the proc, but with green dragonscale and water shield mana isnt THAT big of a deal.

I plan on getting both, only thing that will stop me is just the shear insanity of not getting it after alot of runs lol. But the only problem i have is putting 63 sp on a weapon is expensive so if im gonna do that i gotta know its worth while.

i would say its worth while, i'd say use the +63 sp over BoED. like i said mana isnt the same issue as it was before 3/3 green dragonscale and water shield @ 49. its a good proc, but i think the 23 SP edges it out for most uses. however if you do get low and wanna switch to ze proc blade, go for it, then switch back once it goes off a sufficient # of times.

You might want to take into account that Wowhead says it can and can't be dispelled, and Elitest Jerks says it "supposedly can't".

Black Magic

So I'd say it needs to be tested and then corrected on Wowhead.

every post on wowhead (last time i checked) said it can't be dispelled.

and i'd trust EJ over a forum like that anyways.

If you read my black magic link on my previous post there are 2 commentators that say it can and can't be dispelled.

the one who said it can't be dispelled actually linked the lil spell info box where it says "Mechanic - N/A and Dispel - N/A". the other dude just said "its a curse so yes" but provided no proof/anecdotes actually dispelling it. everything i've ever heard about it says not dispellable. one lock had it on vindi but he went inactive or lvld, and at the time i was playing my warrior so i could not test.

anyways EJ is like THE place for theorycrafting/game knowledge c'est non? so if they say its not dispellable, then puck wowhead imo. (even tho i love you wowhead!)
