Farming must stop! Please help convince others to not farm honor in WSG.

I'm sick of players refusing to cap in order to farm honor. It is rude, unsportsmanlike, and simply encourages the other side to do the same thing, making the entire f2p experience less fun for everyone. Graveyard camping is bad, but refusing to cap so that you and your team can farm honor is just plain wrong.

I'm sure everyone on these boards agrees, but the problem is that too many others in the bracket ignore this. Quite often we're forced to sit around for the last ten minutes of the game, and worse, we know that the entire other side is upset at all of us. Put simply, we must do what we can to stop this.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to prevent or discourage this behavior?

Yes - tell them farming honor is bad. Very very bad. Now go lay down. BAD DOGGIES.

Yeah it sucks but idjits will be idjits. I did this once and it worked:

We capped 2 of 3 and had the last enemy flag in our FR. The holder said - let's farm so honor and three or four people agreed.

I said sure man I'll hold the flag for you. He dropped.

**Drünk has captured the Horde Flag**

**Alliance Wins!**

(true story)

Or just mention "naw farming honor is weak" or you can always go with the "CAP IT NUB" route - because those type of people are generally less evolved and afraid to be seen as a NUB. Anyways a couple of bad apples don't mean too much in the scheme of things. If your on an AP partial/full premade pug (either faction) I can pretty much guarantee they avoid GY farming - at least from what I have seen so far.

One thing that I've seen though is when, say 7/10, of a team is getting farmed the other 3 turtle FR. This makes it hard for one person to just grab the flag to cap and end the game. I know the "just let them win" mentality is kinda BS, but if your team is getting farmed and only one person on the opposing team cares enough to cap the 3rd flag to stop it you probably shouldn't hinder them.

If I'm in a game with those spirestone scrubs i make sure i get the instant pickup on the third flag because i like /loling at them when they want to farm

Exactly what I was gonna say. Just click cancel.

Problem is how do you convince the rest of your team to do the same? As long as one or two people keep ressing they will keep farming, and if you afk out you just stick someone else with a crap game.

this right here is probably your best bet.

GY Farming is unavoidable, queing for AB is a good alternate solution to this ;)

How about putting together a blacklist of players that GY camp or hold the flag without capping, and then we all refuse to heal or protect them?

That seems like too much work to manage, communicate and update a list like that. Plus it gives newer players no chance at redemption.

Don't get me wrong - I'm opposed to GY farming. Just keep a mental note of the constant offenders.

There's really not much you can do about unless they are on AP and involved in the f2p community.

And yes - queueing for AB is an option - but 1 hour queue vs 5 min pop? Not all WSG games are crap. There are some great competitive WSG games out there.

Strong agree. When I rolled my first F2P character on alliance, my first 10 or so games (in the non-xp-locked bracket) saw horde GY camping us horribly. I figured this was just the nature of the game, and GY-camped like a pro from then until I found the site and rerolled on AP.

While most people realize camping is dickish and unsportsmanlike, It's not immediately obvious to new/returning players that GY camping is faction-asymmetrical in the bracket. Most people don't have a problem being dickish and unsportsmanlike within a dickish and unsportsmanlike atmosphere. With the field set up to encourage camping, it's no surprise that camping happens.

I think the best strategy to combat camping from the guilty-faction end is to communicate your opposition to it. I like the idea of getting and capping the flag, but make sure this comes with a one-line explanation of what you are doing and why (and not immediately before the cap, most people immediately and reflexively leave). If you can't get the flag, stand at the tunnel entrance and ask others to do the same. You still mooch honor, but leave the poor rezzing bastards a sporting shot at escaping out GY side or overwhelming the hopefully-diminished number of campers. Explain in comprehensible, nonconfrontational english what you're doing and why, and in particular remind alliance teams that horde rarely gets a "turn" to GY camp.

From the receiving end of a camp, you want to explain to the rest of your team why continually rezzing just perpetuates camping, and encourage them to walk their character out of the spawn radius and go make a sandwich. Be articulate and avoid nerdrage, and hopefully people will listen. And if they don't, well at least you have a sandwich, amirite?

man i am soooooooooo tired of these "GY farming" whine threads. if you don't want to get GY farmed, queue with your friends, roll a hunter, or stay the **** out of WSG.

WSG is a garbage battleground that encourages GY farming because it's the optimal strategy for winning the BG. it doesn't surprise me at all that people take it a step further and just keep on camping the GY to get some extra honor. i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is *not* their fault that blizzard changed the graveyards in WSG to encourage GY camping even further.

1. queue with others

2. afk out

3. queue AB and not WSG

solve your own problems - don't want for others to solve them for you, because it rarely happens.

Actually, the optium strategy would be to stay with your team and FC cap your opponent's three flags as fast as possible and go on to your next match. You get the most bang for your buck that way. That is the way smart teams and players play.

no. one person can cap the 3 flags. everyone else relegates the other team to their GY, where they are unable to stop you from capping the 3 flags. and bonus: you get more honor this way anyway!
