F2P. Server = Guild?? No?? Thoughts?

I think in a way they are.

Which is why I fully support new communities popping up, instead of AP consolidation. Not all guilds are the right fit for everyone, just like I don't think AP is the right place for everyone either.

I find Ally AP chat to be much more interesting (sometimes it's dead, don't get me wrong) than Horde AP chat. I prefer Ally AP, but I'd rather play my Horde characters for the queues. I'm pleased to see places like Vashj and MG starting up. I hope to see more servers get a F2P presence in the future.

So yes, I think Server=Guild for F2P.

Yeah as Harley says the big difference is that you can't control who rolls where or what kind of atmosphere they bring to your server ("guild").

For instance, literally every other 20 twink I've met on Mal'Ganis with Tk is a hunter. Every single one. I would prefer that they be more diverse but I have absolutely no control over it lol.

I actually agree with sally, as i said in some other thread, as f2p becomes more and more popular there will be multiple communities beginning to flourish just like vashj, moon guard and even emerald dream.

this is a good thing though, so we should treat it as such

Yeah, and one of the problems with the channel being public is you can't escape the drama by kicking the people that cause it, like you can with a guild.

Don't forget though that you can now change the channel, so you could make a more select group, and switch to a channel with a password on it.

Yeah the biggest differences between our chat channels and guilds are that (a) there is no "invite" barrier to joining the channel, (b) channel bans have limited effectiveness, since they reset whenever the channel empties, and (c) we can't change servers without a complete reroll, which really discourages people from searching to find a "guild" they fit into well.

AP is crowded enough to support guild-like private channels on it, I doubt any of the other servers are. Joining an exclusive channel keeps you from seeing what's going on in the main channel though, and I doubt there's enough interest in private channels to make multiple channels a feature worth adding (imo).

Orrr we could use the channel change to get rid of the people we don't like... Think about it we could just join a channel and not tell the people we don't like, then nobody would bother us!

Far from it. Any retard can download the F2P addon and make a character on whichever server they want. There is no screening process.

i wish everyone thought this way!
we could be sooo much better of a community if they did!
Jdoring is a true guild leader... thanks for your time and assistance
i do appreciate it!

I do agree we are a community guild that anyone can join.but I think private channels are a bad idea, Josh.

It takes away from the general feelof AP, and I can't say there are many horde,if any, that I dislike enough to want get away.
