Does it need to be from a source looted in draenor or just anything opened in draenor? If so could stockpile those DMF bloated sharks and open them in the zone.

Any container that has gold works, you can get it anywhere and open in Draenor

Well, it's a account-wide achievement, so don't expect me to do it in hardore mode by using only one character
It involved approximatively 11-12 weeks of farm on 40 characters iirc. And I opened all those chests in about one hour on a same day, just for fun
Btw, I had enough chests since at least 8.1.5 ... but I always had better to do than to summon 40 characters to draenor, so I postponed a lot ^^
Anything that contains gold and that you earn gold from it work, as long as you're in Draenor. So DMF sharks, Timeless Isle chests, Big Bag of Booty, ... all that works. Just be sure to not be on Stormshield/Horde-equivalent (and Ashran in general) because it doesn't count as Draenor. The easiest container that you can farm imo is the Timeless Isle one. You just need a friend or a second account to farm the boss each week.

This AV event is really fun with a rogue The adrenaline of capping bases with tons of hordies around
I just had a wonderful game with alliance, which ended 4 minutes just before the server reset, and contained both my proudest bunker defense and my closest win (... for now ^^)
And it's pretty amazing how a few macro at the beginning of the battle can change the way all the team plays (because, to be honest, most of them have no idea how to play this special BG). Everytime I spam them with that, Ally forget SF, rush to IB gy first, then spread to towers while defending it, and after push more south ^^
So now i'm just giving advices on where def/people is needed while defending our objectives to give them more time, and it's a lot of fun

Seems like when no resistance is shown, people tend to forget that rogues are watching them in the shadows ...
