F2P - Paid services

Bisonpower

Legend
If blizzard were to implement a paid tier system based on access to higher levels in the game and other services (vanity pets, trading, auction house) would you be interested?

Lets say for levelling:
$1/monthly = 24cap
$5/monthly = 39cap
$10/monthly = 70cap
$15/monthly = 90cap (end game)

All different payment levels would allow access to current full game access.

.
Another scenario might be a one time payment to say level to 24 get BIS/enchants etc then after that your toon locks if you don't pay but you can access and play unlimited. You just have to pay if you want to access or change things up.

Another scenario:

Although Blizzard has said Free to Play Service has no time limit they can always change that. If they were to implement a payment system for your F2P after a certain amount of time played (lets say 1yr or even 2yrs) for a measly amount of $1/monthly to continue access or even just a one time payment of $12/yearly for access.

Would you chalk up the money to play?

No. I don't play this bracket cause I can't afford it, I play it because it has pops and 24 is so boring. And yes I wouldn't mind paying 1$ a month to play my what are they called then? Lets call em P2F2P characters.

After the amount of time invested on my F2P toons I would pay to keep playing them for a low price as suggested above.

For access to 24s $1 would be reasonable. I would make a new account and keep my F2P separate.

On a side note the current system access for $15/monthly is not an issue for me. WOW has a lot to offer. I just don't pay because I'm only interested in PVP/BG's and not interested in endgame, guilds/raids etc.

Anything involving a subscription I would say no, even if it's $1 tbh I still wouldn't (that's mainly cause I spent so much time getting f2p chars good gear though).

I would consider a 1 time payment though.

I've realised after WoW that putting so much time into a subscription game is pointless, cause you have got Nothing to show for it after your time is up... But us f2p's... we have plenty to show off. Forever.

I also am only interested in PvP (incl world PvP though). Screw the constant gear grind of end game... I'll take my disadvantages as a f2p over some crappy gear grind just to be competitive.

I would like to have access to faction/relm change on F2P just so i can get that damn eye patch on a horde character! however i couldn't care less for a subscription. The trial account limits make maximizing every stat on a char that much harder and i kinda like the challenge.

Turbine has good a la carte options. No reason Blizzard cannot do it. But I don't think they have a compelling reason to break their current sub model.

If forever = the day they turn off the server switch...and they will...then yes, forever indeed.

I defintely would especially if those brackets chase the cap as expansions come out. I have no desire to do anything 'end-game', as [for me] the effort isn't worth the reward. I love the content, just not pounding my head against a wall to experience it.

I've been waiting for WoW to end for a few years now, I hope they do it well and not just shut servers off one day. Maybe have a huge raidboss invade each major city and send out endless waves of monsters and when you die you can't rez anymore. Shitty closure to mmo's suck, great ones are awesome tho

I dont think they will. They just dont want to open up transactions for "f2ps" because they dont want their game advertised in that way. They want you to pay to play, (sub model) as opposed to pay if you feel like it (f2p model)

I don't think we'll see a F2P model implemented until WoW drops another 3-4 million subs. We'll see though.

And no, i don't think i would play if it ever went full F2P. Typically F2P games are garbage, unbalanced, broken, and barely ever see maintenance. Cash shops are the worst thing to ever happen to mmo's in my opinion. First your buying pets, then pretty soon you're buying gear/power etc.

I would pay for server change, that kinda thing.

But tbh f2p gives me pretty much all I want out of wow as it is, and with a shorter level grind than the higher brackets, faster pops, all that fun stuff.
