Expertise cap for level 20?

but "answering" anyway.

This is the most expertise I can get as a hunter that i know of. Not sure if it varies between classes.
Orc Racial (axe): 3
Foreman's Gloves: 5 (9)
3 set bonus of the Fang: 4 (7)

Chardev means:

14 expertise for dodge cap

30 expertise for parry cap

That's for PVE.

For PVP i think you have to check every class/spec/player for their numbers of dodge/parry.

I hear that even this much expertise doesn't cap you against lvl 1s. Do you know anything about this Felix?

...as far as lvl 1's go, you could just log in a level 1 and see what their dodge % is (a base 17 agility with zero gear would give them about a 2.1% dodge chance)...and the gloves give you about -2.3% ...so you'd be covered against a naked lvl 1.

...there's no real cap as the imaginary expertise cap would be whatever your opponents dodge/parry numbers would be. (naked at 20, my base cap is a bit over 9%...its about 18% with my gear...22% in Feral Form). regardless, its higher than what's available.

Here's a list of all the racials. +3 expertise = -1.4% chance to be dodged/parried (at least for now).
  • Humans get +3 Expertise with One or Two-Handed Swords and Two-Handed Maces.
  • Orcs get +3 Expertise with One and Two-Handed Axes, and Fist Weapons.
  • Dwarves get +3 Expertise with One and Two-Handed Maces.
  • Gnomes get +3 Expertise with Daggers and One-Handed Swords.

The gloves are the only thing with chasing imo as you just loose too many other stats with Fang gear (unless you're just super bent on tagging a high-level mob...and even then you're sacrificing a lot of hit so still not sure if its worth it).

Just another note. Currently Expertise is like twice as valuable as hit (or something about like that) because it reduces your chance to be Dodged AND to be Parried. Come MoP, Expertise will also reduce Spell Misses so it'll be even more valuable.

Yesterday Felix was wearing his expertise set and a level 1 night elf dodged him.

chest, belt, boots of the fang. use the foremans still and keep hoggers for the hit. but yeah its a huge hit in stats just for a vital raptor strike getting dodged.

as for that level 1 i was farming and dodged me, i think what happened was i was in combat when i switched sets, so i only equipped my bar. giving me only 3 expertise. but still a level 1 dodging me was bullshit.

thanks this really helped me understand it alot. one more question. Is that expertise set you use Felix any good for PvP?
and Feral Form gets expertise??

No, Feral talents give you +4% dodge in cat form...so your opponent would need more expertise to negate it.

The Fang pieces would be lousy for PvP because you're just loosing too many other stats. IMO, the gloves are great for pure offense.
