Thought about doing Guardian of Cenarius on a 19 druid, bought 100 ethereum prison keys to try it out. I have opened 20 cages now and all of them have been of prisoners dropping greens/blue, i.e. not a single rep for any faction. Does it not work at all? On Wowhead it reads:
"These prisons can contain either a hostile mob, or a friendly NPC aligned with a certain faction. The hostile mobs will drop green/blue quality items, and the friendly NPC will provide +500 reputation with an Outland faction (for example, Cenarion Expedition, The Consortium, etc) for all group members."
Is the spawn rate less than 1 in 20? If so, multiplied by 5 (I think?) possible faction spawns, that is quite a lot.
edit: did another 10, so 30 in in total. Not a single rep spawn. Opened at 54 40. I'll try 10 more at the southern one and see if there's any change.
edit 2: did a total of 60; 30 to the north (54 40) and 30 to the south (54 46). Had 3 total pops to the south. So it's either 3/60 across both (if we assume that all prisons are equal) or 3/30 (=1/10) on the southern only. I did get credit on my alt for the reputation while my alt was alive. I did not get credit while my character was dead. But staying alive is no problem since there are no mobs to aggro you in the southern prison, so regardless if the spawn rate is higher or not, it's probably still best to stay south. But the drop rate is quite ridiculous if you need 84 hits * 5 reputations * (1/20 chance to hit) = 8400 keys. On my server the price fluctuates from 5g at the lowest and currently sitting on 25g. At the lowest, that's 8400*5=42000 gold. That's a lot!
