Esports Team/Org Branding

Long story short, I need to brand an eSports team or organization for my final project at Uni, and instead of branding an imaginary one, I'd much rather brand an actual team(or org).

If you own a team or know someone who does, HMU! :3

If you want to guarantee the highest possible grade, you should just rebrand the entire industry... so we could all stop referring to it as goddamn "eSports".

(...best of luck with your final, by the way...)

Does country / location matter? I know the CEO of an org, however focused on Danish events for the time being, and mainly CSGO.

It doesn't matter, but to be fair, their logo is pretty good, and that's kinda the main part of visual identity(branding).
If I were to work with them, they would have to change the logo.

It's the best shot I can give personally, since they're an up-and-comer. Plenty of time to "add your touch". Just let me know and I can try and make contact.

Also, do they have to re-brand specifically? Can't you propose and show something in your project without it having to be specifically used by the org?

It's a huge project, I'm looking at least 30 days of work, if not more. Aside from the logo, I have to come up with typography, color palette and supporting graphics(social media graphics, streaming graphics, patterns, business cards, etc.)

That being said, if I'm doing it, I wanna do it all, from start to finish. I wanna create a logo, and base the rest of the graphics around it.

So aye, working for one of the teams competing in their events would probably be better, unless they want a full re-branding(new logo and all).

Appreciate your help BTW.

Noticed my deleted account was tagged here.

Currently I'm serving as Vice President of Institutional and Community Development at an Esports company, this means I travel and meet with Universities building out their esports program. Normally we charge our clients for this, and perhaps that is something we can discuss in the future with your University. If you send me an email at Ben@americanesports.net I would be more than happy to help give you some pointers or answer some questions.

We are not currently looking to acquire any services or rebrand anything.

Just do all that but for this super awesome guild called Teldrassil Firefighters

We're an esports powerhouse in the 20s bracket ;)

To be fair, I'd be down to help with the guild graphics, but in a few months from now, when I'm all done with Uni. ^^

When speaking with industry proffesionals and companies you should be aware that no one draws a distinction between a guild that plays pvp competitively with a team and a amateour, semi-pro, or pro team (semi-pro or above only if money is on the line), they're the same thing, in the eyes of the industry.

Because it is difficult to gain esports experience, most people in the industry have worked with amateur level teams at one point or another.

Working with a team in this community is a great opportunity that serves as valuable resume experience.

<TF> #1 pro twink esports team
To be clear, the wording you use when speaking to industry folks is important. You should refrain from using the word "twink" instead just say an amateour or semi-pro team in world of Warcraft, if you are pressed for details it's better to describe the playstyle than to use it's name.

For example:
"I worked with teams that would turn their experience off, get the best items available to them, and then compete against eachother.".

Sounds a lot better and is more understandable than:

"I use to work with twink guilds"

The first statement is not misleading, language is very important in the business world.

If someone recognizes what you're talking about and asks "you were a twink?" Just say something along the lines of "yes, but some of us refer to it as the xp off playstyle", this will demonstrate an understanding of marketing and the importance of branding.

I work for a marketing firm.

I know.

That makes sense.
But to be honest, I'd much rather work with an actual team(or with a well-organized active guild). When it comes to guilds, I've worked for few in the past, but the main issue I had was that my graphics were used only on a Discord server, and MAYBE as an avatar on some forums, but never on an actual website, streaming platforms, in print, etc.

If I'm going to spend weeks, if not months, working on this, for free, I'd like to create something that will at least be used on more platforms and not only on a Discord server.

As I mentioned above, after I'm done with a logo, color palette and typography, I'd move onto creating supporting graphics, such as:
  • Social media banners and avatars/profile pictures
  • Streaming graphics
    • Cam overlay
    • Emotes
    • Profile panels
    • etc.
  • Pattern(s)
  • Print graphics
    • T-shirt
    • Jersey
    • etc.
  • Etc.
Obviously, if there's a guild that needs all of the above(and possibly more), I'd be more than happy to work with them, but I just don't see a guild needing all of that(prob. not even half of that) unless we're talking about some huge-ass guilds such as Method.
