    Hopefully you can help me.

Basically I need to perform a speech ( 5minutes long ) on a topic for my English class,

I'm having trouble finding a topic that suits me... And was wondering if anyone has an Idea's or fancy tricks (powerpoint) that they can tell me / show me.

    Topics I've been thinking about

Global warming, War or information about celebrities.

Any information will be helpful! Thanks!

maybe you could recite a poem?

failing that i have a powerpoint from when i had to give a speech on The Porphyrias you can have.

When I was in school I always just picked a war of some sorts, or some major conflict in history. Those subjects make for interesting presentations as well as auctually being interesting to write about. Im from the us so I dont know a whole lot about ireland, but im sure there are plenty of subjects to write about from your history books.

definitely speak about ti and the wow communities. consider it a sociological study

i wouldnt really do global warming since its not definitive one way or the other. does it have to be a presentation on something like that or could you give a speech on how to tie a tie for ex. war might be interesting..i mean if its like an obscure one or something, just make it engaging for the audience regardless

I'm going for War, but war in general, as in the costs of war, the reality of War, If you have anything about War in general Damage it would be great.

Thank you everyone for the Ideas

Tell them about the Suez canal or maybe the Panama canal. Two major seaways and I don't think a lot of people know about the history or the significance of these canals. I'd be interested to hear about that if I were in your class.

If you make a presentation, make sure you stress the general line enough. Don't go to much into detail, don't overwhelm your public with dates and other useless numbers. Throw in some interesting anecdotes. If you are talking about a historical item, make sure you mention the effect said historical item had on today's reality.

If you're going for war, i would also tell about the protestant / catholic problem in Northern- & "real" ireland

    Its very interrestesting!

If you're going to do that, you could also just read some of the novel "Good Girl" which is about the problem there!!

    Gl on your test!

Its been a while since I have had to do any type of reports, but I can tell you that the very definition of war is cruelty. There is no darker act comitted by man than the slaying of countless fellow men. One thing that I have always been interested in is the different tech invented as time goes on dedicated to war. From gunpowder to heat seeking missiles, the many types of weapons made by man are pretty interesting in my opinion, but to some peaple that may be boring.

I would go with what falkor said maybe, just focus on an interesting conflict in history, not something well-known liek the holocaust, no one wants to spend 20 minutes listening to a tale of ann frank because odds are they have allready heard it. Dont go in to too much detail, but providing a few dates would work, but not too many.

In the end its really up to you, find something that you find interesting in general, and that will help you do a better job at making a speech about it, because if your interested in something you tend to have a bigger imagination.

Do drug cartels, thats what I did last year. It was easy as hell

Failing that, Psychology - Teach people about how the brain works

Can help you with that aswell.

If you speak about twinks you can forget about social life & continue playing twinkers. Celebrities is gossip & gossip is gay.

Talk about the life of George Carlin.
